Take the first step towards designing your career with Stantec. We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Compensation professional to join our team. Reporting through to the Compensation Manager, the incumbent's primary role is to provide compensation subject matter design, analytics and consulting for North America. This position is geared towards a client focused individual with demonstrated consulting capabilities and a proactive approach to compensation. Join our collaborative compensation team and play an integral role delivering compensation design and consulting services.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and measures the ongoing performance and overall effectiveness of current compensation program designs, policies, guidelines, structures, and systems/tools to support the achievement of the Total Rewards strategy and other organizational objectives

  • Engages with the business and HR leaders to diagnose complex compensation issues and recommends potential solutions to optimize compensation programs, policies, guidelines, structures, and systems/tools in support of organizational goals

  • Performs analysis on the effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and models potential financial impact of alternatives

  • Identifies key compensation trends, issues and opportunities, outlines strategic alternatives and recommends action plans which meet all compliance requirements

  • Participates in various compensation-related projects which involve revision, development and/or re-design of existing compensation programs and systems/tools such as: job structure development, market pricing, salary structure development, bonus design, executive compensation, compliance, corporate guidelines, pay practices, competencies, career planning, Comp Tool Kit, Kenexa CompAnalyst etc.

  • Ensures all program designs are legally compliant

  • Develops documentation for programs, practices, policies, and training materials to ensure the contact center staff and Compensation Consultants have the necessary tools and training to sufficiently respond to employee and business inquiries respectively

  • Maintains key contacts internally and externally

  • Develops and rolls out initial training of new programs, practices and policies

  • Oversees Vendor relationship management

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience designing, consulting and managing a variety of compensation programs, policies and practices that support informed decisions amongst all levels of management

  • Well-developed communication, presentation, and influencing skills

  • Exercises confidentiality, discretion, sound judgment as well as possess critical thinking in ambiguous and complex situations

  • CCP/GRP preferred

  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills required

  • HRIS Systems (preferably Oracle)

  • Compensation data warehouse - Market Pay or other

  • Deep understanding of compensation best practices and principles

  • Proven stakeholder and project management skills

  • Expertise in global market pricing methodologies and interpretation of salary surveys

  • Deep understanding of Compensation related Provincial, State and Federal laws, legislation, rules and regulations for North America required; multi-national knowledge preferred; FLSA, EEO, ADA, Sherman Anti-Trust Act, applicable provincial employment and other legislation

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or related field. Minimum of 7-8 years of related work experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Travel may be required throughout North America.

Responsibilities As a Senior Sales Compensation Consultant, you'll provide expert compensation consulting to US Insurance Solutions and Principal International, with specific focus on the design, implementation and on-going management of sales incentive programs. How you'll spend your day to day: * Analyze industry information to ensure compensation programs are market competitive. Develop pricing strategies and prepare analysis on competitive positioning. Complete modeling of incentive plans to ensure design aligns with desired results. Evaluate incentive plan effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements. * Develop and maintain relationships with industry consultants and other contacts. May serve on functional committees inside and outside the company as a representative of Human Resources. Provide proactive compensation consulting to assigned client groups. Consult on other facets of compensation including job usage, job offers, salary administration, attraction/retention strategies, recognition and equity programs. * Lead the design of sales incentive plans, requiring extensive interaction with senior business management, to create plans that are aligned with business strategy. Partner with key stakeholders in Finance, Compliance and Legal to ensure plans fit within expense allowables, are compliant and based on sound risk management. * Lead the execution of key incentive compensation processes. Facilitate the review and approval of incentive proposals with Distribution Compensation Committees.
