Benefits Analyst
PURPOSE:
Administer benefits programs in compliance with government regulations and plan provisions to ensure equitable administration to employees.
Essential Duties and Requirements
Responsible for customer service of Benefits; oversees; monitors calls; Benefits inbox; resolves issues; monitors/creates metrics; works directly with Sr. Specialists and Managers to ensure reasonable timeframes for issues resolution.
Responsible for processing continuation of coverage, including mailing letters, tracking and collection of payments due.
Assists with new hire benefits orientation and open enrollment presentations.
Complies with government and state regulations and plan provisions to ensure equitable administration to employees.
Investigates and resolves eligibility file issues; researches and resolves file discrepancies reported by carriers and/or audit findings.
Responsible for promoting and enhancing voluntary benefits.
Provides policy interpretation and clarifies procedures to HR and Department management.
Assists in annual benefits open enrollment including plan design changes and testing; conducts open enrollment presentations.
Recommends improvements to procedures or systems to increase productivity and increase employee awareness.
Assists in identifying inefficiencies and areas in need of improvement.
Leads special projects as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned or performs other duties when necessary.
Qualifications
Competencies:
2-5 years' experience administering employee benefits or insurance benefit information.
Work effectively and efficiently within strict deadlines as part of a team.
Strong organization skills.
Ability to self-manage in a fast-paced environment and to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Strong knowledge of Excel and experience navigating online systems.
Ability to receive, prioritize, and complete tasks from multiple sources with minimal supervision and must also possess proven customer service skills.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and written communication skills.
Ability to think creatively to solve problems.
Experience working in a strong customer-service focused environment within the human resources, benefits, retirement plan administration field strongly preferred.
Experience in developing educational and training materials.
