We are seeking an experienced benefits professional to administer our US benefits program. Reporting into the head of benefits, the successful candidate will be a member of Total Rewards team within a growing biotechnology company. Core responsibilities include handling leaves of absence, benefits enrollment, resolving benefits concerns of employees and dependents, benefits orientation, reviewing bills and invoices for accuracy, and overseeing our benefits program generally.


  • Leave of Absence administration: in a caring and compassionate manner, meet with employees and counsel them on our leave processes and policies, ensure proper documentation and processes are followed, and support their return to work in accordance with company policy and their physician's recommendations

  • Benefits Enrollment: on a weekly basis conduct the benefits portion of new hire orientation, help employees understand how to select the plan that works best for them, resolve questions and concerns for new hires, and ensure that each employee enrolls within the eligibility period and that their elections are successfully transferred to the carrier

  • Benefits Resolution: employees regularly have concerns about their benefits from questions about coverage levels to concerns over denied claims or denials for requested procedures. This position is responsible for knowing how to navigate the health care system and work with our partners to find successful resolution to these problems while also building confidence in our employees that their need is in good hands

  • Retirement plan support: successfully orient employees to Seagen's 401k plan, answer questions about plan options, and regularly approve loan requests

  • Benefits Administration: handle other regular administration responsibilities such as reviewing monthly invoices for accuracy, ensuring benefits data in our HRIS is accurate, support benefits interfaces to carriers, and monitor EOI's for supplemental life insurance.

  • Open Enrollment: on an annual basis prepare the HRIS for a successful open enrollment, support the Head of Benefits in employee communications and training sessions, and participate in renewal conversations with our broker in plan design discussions

  • Benefits Processes: support efforts to continually improve our benefits processes by taking ownership over processes that this position administers

  • Employee Accommodation: from time to time, employees may make a request for certain accommodations. This position is responsible for working closely with the HR Business Partner, the Head of Benefits, and legal to ensure our processes are followed to both support the employee in their request and the department in their operation.


  • 5+ years of benefits administration experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Leave Administration

  • 5+ years of professional experience in an HR setting

  • Proven customer service skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive situations and keep information confidential

  • Strong Microsoft skills with a primary focus on Excel skills

  • 3+ years with an enterprise HRIS system (Ultipro preferred)

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong verbal and written skills

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant state and federal laws


  • Bachelor's Degree required
