Job Family Summary

Benefits Administration provides support and services for employers, brokers and regional offices for processes related to billing, payments, and account management.

Job Summary

The Analyst III will research, analyze, resolve and respond to inquiries; provide support in the development and maintenance of business processes for customers to achieve desired business results. The role will develop team members and provide training and support to peers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resolving policy discrepancies; preparing and communicating reconciliation reports to employers

  • Building and maintaining relationships with employers, brokers and regional offices, with a focus on employer groups over $500,000

  • Research, analyze and respond to customer requests, both verbal and written, including reallocation of premiums and refund checks

  • Oversee management of suspense account entries using established standards and provide reporting

  • Provide and implement approved suggestions for process improvement

  • Document and execute complex processes with minimal supervision

  • Manage projects and deliver accurate results

  • Assign and discrepancies to team members; monitor progress and report results

  • Provide coaching to team members, reporting results

  • Handle escalated calls and research

  • Assist with Department of Insurance Complaint research and responses

  • Provide skill training sessions for department or team when needed

  • Team member check approvals

  • Assist leadership with special projects and operational efficiencies

  • Requires an understanding of the underlying principles of professional discipline and the application of those principles in completing work and making judgments and/or recommendations for action

Job Qualifications


  • High School Diploma/GED required

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience in office environment, preferably insurance preferred

  • Intermediate to Advanced level of Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel

  • Advanced level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrate innovation and process improvement skill set

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to utilize established practices while making informed independent decisions

  • Team player, ability to stand out in a team oriented environment

  • Ability to give and receive coaching and feedback

  • Insurance industry background a plus

  • Intermediate strategic and analytical thinking skills

  • Ability to multitask with advanced organizational skills

This individual will be responsible for providing support to employee benefit lines by maintaining, expanding, and servicing assigned accounts. The role will work directly with group administrators to assist and educate on the proper administration procedures, State & Federal COBRA, additions & termination and all other administrative procedures. Responsibilities: * Market new and renewal business, rate and quote employee benefit lines. * Spend approximately 25-50% of the time outside of the office with clients. * Gathering missing enrollment information and all underwriting status follow up * Assist employees with unresolved claim issues while educating them on the claims processing system. * Process daily mail, including faxes and e-mail, for assigned accounts. * Answer and process all telephone requests for assigned accounts. * Enter all required data into system to maintain current file data on all assigned accounts. * Maintain & annually update the physical account files. * Maintain suspense or follow-up system for correspondence/requests. * Provide back-up to other Account Analysts as assigned. * Develop and maintain working relationship with the various company marketing representatives and underwriters. * Maintain up to date knowledge of the various carriers' rating plans and programs. * Maintain favorable relationship with clients, producers, and employees. * Develop and maintain strong technical knowledge of employee benefit lines of coverage and rating. * Perform clerical functions including, but not limited to submitting and sending faxes, proofreading and photocopying documents.
