Alphanumeric is hiring a BENCH SCIENTIST to work in Upper Providence, Collegeville, PA with one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

The Novel Human Genetics Research Unit plays a pivotal role in the identification and validation of targets for drug discovery. The successful candidate will be performing target validation experiments in relevant cellular systems and present the analyzed data to manager and colleagues during one-on-one discussion or team meetings.

  • Culture primary human cells and cell lines to support assay development.

  • Run 3D cell systems and organ-on-a-chip models containing cell lines or primary human cells.

  • Capture cell imaging using advanced microscopy techniques complemented by classic molecular techniques e.g. ELISA, Western, PCR, RT-PCR to characterize cell phenotype.

  • Conduct experiments to investigate the biological effects of novel target genes.

  • Use standard software e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, GraphPad Prism, to analyze experimental data and concisely present results

  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks according to company guidelines.

Your responsibilities include some of the following: Performs GMP analytical testing to support release or rejection of starting materials, synthetic intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients, as well as formulation intermediate, bulk and finished drug products. With supervision, executes method validation experiments for starting materials, synthetic intermediates, drug substances and drug products appropriate to clinical development phases and in line with QbD approaches. Documents laboratory work in accordance with GxP expectations, company policy, and legal requirements. Review of experiments, stability protocols, and other key documents Writes specific technical sections of internal and external reports with supervision. Performs routine data management tasks including recording results effectively in a laboratory notebook or computer independently (e.g., tabulating and graphing results). Identifies and troubleshoots any problems in the execution of experimental processes; interprets results and communicates them to his/her supervisor. Prepares and communicates conclusions and recommendations for next steps to relevant members of own team or Matrix Teams. Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: BS in Chemistry, or related scientific field with 5+ years' of relevant experience, or MS in Chemistry, or related scientific field with 3+ years' of relevant experience. Demonstrated technical expertise and working familiarity with several analytical techniques, and laboratory procedures. Knowledge of how to analyze and interpret experimental data. Thorough operational knowledge of laboratory equipment. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Knowledge of cGMP requirements Awareness with FDA/EU/UK and ICH regulations and guidances related to analytical transfer and validation and release and stability testing. Experience with laboratory systems (e.g. Waters Empower CDS and Labware) Experience with both small molecule and biopharm analytical development. Good technical writing skills for documentation.
