    The therapist is responsible for providing high quality patient care, displaying good skills in assessment, treatment planning, group treatment, individual treatment, family treatment, and discharge planning. Additionally, he/she is expected to function well as a member of the multidisciplinary team and participate in the Unit Community Relations Program.


  • *Patient Care

Conducts individual psychotherapy sessions, displaying theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and good treatment technique.
Conducts family therapy sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of family therapy principles and good treatment technique.
Conducts group therapy sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of group therapy principles and good group therapy technique.
Conducts educational group sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of subject matter and effective communication skills in presenting material.
Engages in timely, efficient discharge planning beginning at admission. Works in close conjunction with patient, family, guardians, legal system, nursing staff and attending physician. Shows good knowledge of referral/placement process and available community resources.
Completes social evaluations on assigned patients in a timely fashion. Displays good interviewing, diagnosis and report writing skills.
Completes progress notes and discharge plans in a timely and high quality fashion.
Ensures patient legal status is accurate and up to date.
Conducts individual psychotherapy sessions as needed throughout the hospital for Behavioral Health patients.

  • *Other Responsibilities

Functions cooperatively as a member of the treatment team.
Communicates effectively with families and agencies, conveying a positive professional image.
Brings to Program Director's attention significant issues related to program functioning.
Works sufficient hours to ensure effective performance.
Utilizes feedback regarding performance and uses supervision to improve performance.
Other duties as assigned.



Education: Master's degree in social work, counseling, or psychology from an accredited university. Must have current required licensure or certification for the State of Arkansas.

Experience: One year field placement or one year's experience working with Chemical Dependency/Mental health/Eating Disorders patients.

Physical Requirements:

Must possess good overall clinical skills, ability to work productively and effectively, ability to function well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, and ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the hospital.
