Position Title: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Contract Work Year: 190 Days
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with 30 minute lunch
Reports to: Director of Exceptional Student Services; Supervising Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Purpose
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) works directly with staff and students who display maladaptive, dangerous, and/or disruptive behaviors in the classroom. The RBT may serve as a member of the intensive support team in the development of positive intervention plans to improve student performance. The RBT follows all federal, state, and district due process policies and procedures while supporting school administrators and special educators in compliant practices.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Must have an Associate degree, 2 years of college or a passing score on the GACE/PRAXIS Paraprofessional Assessment Test Required
Successful completion of all requirements for Registered Behavior Technician Certificate, or willingness to obtain and maintain RBT certification
Hold current credentials through the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board) of good standing
Experiences with at least 1 year working with students with disabilities and various significant disruptive behaviors
Exhibit positive interpersonal skills necessary to deal with diverse publics and colleagues.
Listens, understands, and follows directions.
Punctual and exceptional attendance.
Use of good judgment while recognizing the scope of authority.
Able to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
Exceptional understanding of policies, procedures, and services provided.
Able to interpret written materials.
Communicates clearly and professionally (face-to-face, phone, email, writing, etc.).
Ability to verify accuracy of data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties of this position are noted below. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain student confidentiality.
Maintain open and ongoing communication with the Director of Exceptional Student Services and the supervising BCBA.
Provide ongoing behavioral support for students who exhibit challenging behaviors, including positive reinforcement and differential reinforcement within the classroom
Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to implement protocols with fidelity as directed by the supervising BCBA
Provide teacher consultation and support on functional behavior assessments (FBA) and positive behavior intervention plans (BIP)
Collaborate with outside BCBAs and other multi-disciplinary team members to develop comprehensive programming for students with disabilities
Remain current on new research and developments in behavior analysis
Model behavior strategies and techniques
Collect and evaluate data using direct and indirect methods
Generate and share objective session notes with implicit description of behaviors and strategies
