Position Title: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Contract Work Year: 195 Days

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with one hour lunch

Reports to: Director of Exceptional Student Services

Purpose

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) works directly with staff, students, and parents to develop, implement, and monitor effective, research-based behavior strategies, techniques, and interventions. The BCBA provides evaluations, modeling, and training to staff and parents with regards to behavior support.

The BCBA will evaluate students' strengths and weaknesses, collect data, and conduct parent and staff interviews. The BCBA follows all federal, state, and district due process policies and procedures while supporting school administrators and special educators in compliant practices.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related field (applied behavior analysis, education, psychology, sociology, etc.)

Successful completion of all requirements for Board Certification including passage of the certification examination

Hold current credentials through the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board) of good standing

Experiences with at least 2 years working with students with disabilities and various behaviors

Completed requirements under BACB guidelines to supervise those within the field of behavior analysis

Exhibit positive interpersonal skills necessary to deal with diverse publics and colleagues.

Meet the needs of stakeholders tactfully and courteously.

Listens, understands, and follows directions.

Punctual and exceptional attendance.

Use of good judgment while recognizing the scope of authority.

Able to work independently and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.

Able to lead teams in decision-making.

Exceptional understanding of policies, procedures, and services provided.

Able to interpret written materials.

Communicates clearly and professionally (face-to-face, phone, email, writing, etc.).

Professional writing and proofreading skills.

Ability to verify accuracy of data.

Proficient filing, record-keeping, and computer skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties of this position are noted below. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain student confidentiality and monitor confidential files for students with disabilities.

Maintain open and ongoing communication with Special Education Director.

Provide ongoing behavioral support for students who exhibit challenging behaviors

Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBA)

Write and maintain positive behavior intervention plans (BIP)

Oversee assessments, plan development, and ongoing program data analysis to ensure maximum student progress

Develop and conduct professional development for special educators, general education teachers, and any other staff members as pertinent

Collaborate with outside BCBAs and other multi-disciplinary team members to develop comprehensive programming for students with disabilities

Remain current on new research and developments in behavior analysis

Provide direct supervision of interns

Model behavior strategies and techniques

Provide observation and feedback related to behavior strategies and techniques
