Job Title: Behavioral Specialist - Camp
Branch: Jennersville YMCA
Pay Class: Part Time
Shifts/Availability: Monday-Friday/7:00 am-6:00 pm (Hours will vary)
Rate: $20.00-$24.50
About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.
Position Purpose: The Behavior Support Specialist works with branch staff and program participants to create a positive and productive environment where all participants learn, grow and thrive. The Behavior Support Specialist will be responsible for implementing behavior plans, utilize principles rooted in applied behavior analysis to decrease problem behavior to promote positive replacement behaviors, and maintain accurate documentation for monitoring progress. The Behavior Support Specialist focuses on a person-centered hands-on approach versus overall behavioral strategy to ensure each participant is treated individually with success as the goal. This position will approach work with a proactive approach with growth mindset and character development as outcomes for all.
Responsibilities:
Supports all branch ELC & BASE program participants and staff in managing behavioral incidents and concerns
Support teachers by implementing strategies identified in children's positive behavior support plans, and collects behavior data for subsequent analysis
Provide on-going training, support, and modeling for teachers on how to: minimize common problem behaviors, and how to work with children who display a diverse array of emotional and behavioral challenges
Assists in de-escalation of day-to-day behavioral incidents at program locations
With the support of association BCBA, create behavior strategies for children while promoting a positive environment and instilling the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
With the support of program directors and BCBA, meet with parents and staff to create a collaborative approach to managing behaviors for a positive outcome
Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors in behavioral science, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or related field
At least 2 years of experience in a school or clinical setting working on a team
Experience working with children on the autism spectrum ages 2-12, preferred
An understanding of positive behavior approaches
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must possess a patient and calm demeanor under pressure
Must be willing to work in various environments consistent with the YMCA
Registered Behavior Technician preferred
Obtain and maintain all additional new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
