  • JOB SUMMARY

  • The chief objective of this position:

  • To provide direct clinical care by (1) providing initial psychiatric evaluations and individual treatment; (2) conducting telephone and face-to-face screening of new patients seeking ambulatory psychiatry services; and (3) performing assessments and short-term counseling and referral services for VCUHS HelpLink EAP (Employee Assistance Program). Providing program support to the VCUHS HelpLink EAP in the form of consultation services to managers and Human Resources regarding troubled employees; providing educational and critical incident support services to work units within the Health System; and collaborating with Health System leadership in offering innovative programs to improve the overall health status of the workforce.

  • Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:

  • Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker or Clinical Nurse Specialist

  • Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:

  • Current Virginia license as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker or Clinical Nurse Specialist

  • Experience REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of three (3) years post licensure experience providing initial psychiatric evaluations and psychotherapy in an outpatient setting

  • Experience PREFERRED

  • One (1) year of previous experience providing EAP services

  • Previous experience providing threat assessments and fitness for work evaluations

  • Education/training REQUIRED: (Note: work experience may be considered in lieu of credentials not required by law with HR approval. Work experience must be specific to role)

  • Masters or Doctoral level education in the field of psychology, social work, counseling or nursing from an accredited program

VIEW JOBS 3/11/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-09T00:00 VCU Health System's Psychiatry department is seeking a full time Behavioral Health Counselor-Child to provide direct clinical care, primarily for ages 3-17 on an outpatient basis with some rotational coverage on inpatient pediatric psychiatry at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children. Clinical services include initial psychosocial/diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, and the implementation of evidenced based therapeutic interventions for individual, family, and group services. Incumbent will have access to other therapists, physicians, nurses, and pharmacists when needed for clinical collaboration. The position may also be assigned to provide VCUHS HelpLink EAP services as designated. Responsibilities: Provides initial psychiatric evaluations and screening. Must be able to evaluate pediatric patients and adult /pediatric EAP clients, formulate an accurate differential diagnosis, and develop and implement an appropriate course of treatment Provides EAP evaluations, short-term treatment and referral services to VCUHS employees and any eligible member of their households.
