About ECU Health Bertie Hospital

ECU Health Bertie Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 6-bed critical access hospital in Windsor. It is closely affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center and the telemedicine resources of The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The hospital offers high quality surgical, emergency and diagnostic services, as well as specialty and primary care clinics.

Position Summary

Responsible for providing therapy services to patients and their families as part of a multidisciplinary team with most emphasis on group therapy. Provides case management and follow up with patients, documents daily in the charts, assists in program development.

Develops, implements and reviews treatment plans. Behavioral Health Therapist may work in inpatient, hospital outpatient, ambulatory settings. May be embedded in primary care or other specialty. Possible cross coverage for other areas.

Responsibilities

Care Coordination

Provides treatment coordination with assigned patients; evaluates data from all sources and recommends referrals as needed

Provides individual, family, and/or and group psychotherapy.

In outpatient settings, contacts assigned patients if they are absent for scheduled services. Documents response in the EHR; participates in direct and indirect activities related to marketing both the hospital and the service line through community speaking and attending community events as requested by leadership Overall work performance is dedicated to meeting and exceeding the performance improvement standards of the department; and participates in department quality/performance improvement activities as assigned projects.

Communication

Keeps Treatment Team/Provider(s) informed of patient status including progress or lack of progress and discharge planning needs.

Responsible for clinical documentation related to treatment goals, group and individual interactions and discharge planning communication.

Responsible for appropriate discharges and placements to other facilities as needed. Identifies and makes referrals to other community resource agencies.

Seeks direction when indicated for unusual or non-routine duties; advise appropriate personnel (i.e., Supervisor) of situations requiring nursing, administrative or technical expertise and follow-up; establishes and maintains positive, productive working relationships within the department/service line team as well as with other ECU Health departments; and, recognizes which decisions may be made independently and which require team and/or supervisory input and when this recognition is made, pursues the course of action in an efficient manner.

Orients new team members to the role when assigned.

Represents the department in a positive manner in ECU Health and within the community.

Other Duties

Provides supervision of assigned students and interns.

Also may be responsible for determining use of benevolent funds for transportation, medications, and other issues

Wears ECU Health identification badge while on duty.

Adheres to ECU Health policy and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in Social Work , Counseling (Clinical), and/or Marriage & Family Therapy, (may consider Master's in Psychology if full licensure as any of the above disciplines has been obtained).

North Carolina full licensure to practice as professional Social Worker (LCSW), Counselor (LCMHC), or Marriage& Family Therapist (LMFT).

Non-Violent Crises Intervention certification within 60 days of hire for all inpatient roles required.
