Prism Health is the only nonprofit LGBTQIA+ health center providing comprehensive primary care, behavioral healthcare, and pharmacy services in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington, and Idaho). Since opening its doors in 2017, Prism Health has become a model for culturally specific care and now serves over 1,500 patients with a wide range of services, from day-to-day primary care and pharmacy needs to targeted services like gender-affirming care and specialized population health screenings. Prism and CAP are excited to announce that we are hiring an experienced Behavioral Health Therapist. The Behavioral Health Therapist (BHT) is responsible for providing evaluations, including initial intake assessments, formulating mental health and substance use diagnoses, and identifying appropriate treatment services for LGBTQ+ clients; people affected and infected with HIV/AIDS; and the community at large.

This full-time position and will work at Prism Health in SE Portland or NE Portland. Travel throughout the county as well as evening and weekend work are occasionally required. There are three tiers to the behavioral health therapist role at Prism Health. Classification of BHT I, II, or III is dependent on credentialing and scope of practice (or work). The starting compensation for Behavioral Health Therapists is I $60,403.20 annually, II $64,563.20 annually, III $68,723.20 annually. This is a non-management, union-represented position. The compensation, benefits, and conditions of work for this position are collectively bargained.

We are looking for multiple BHT positions that will have staggered start dates. This role can be fully remote if credentials/licensing are valid for Oregon.

Who you are:

  • Credentials:

  • o BHT I: QMHP credential through MHACBO.

  • o BHT II: Registered as an associate with licensing board in the State of Oregon (CSWA, PCA, MFTA).

  • o BHT III: Unrestricted license to practice in the State of Oregon. (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, PsyD) • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related area of specialization.

  • Provide high quality outpatient mental health treatment for; LGBTQ+ clients and their families; clients who have HIV/AIDS and their families; and the community at large.

  • Knowledgeable in Evidence Based Practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), etc.

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals involved in caring for shared clients by participating in a weekly team staffing • Complete comprehensive, client focused assessments, treatment plans and treatment evaluations with all clients

  • Provide crisis intervention

  • Development and facilitation of support groups and therapy groups

  • 1 or more years' experience in providing behavioral health services

  • Current Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC)

What you'll do:

  • Client evaluations, including initial intake interviews, formulating mental health and substance abuse diagnoses, and identifying appropriate treatment services; notify client, significant others, care givers, and/or care providers of diagnoses and initial treatment recommendations in a timely manner; complete written narrative of evaluation, obtain necessary authorizations for disclosure.

  • Identify psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnose disorders, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, and reference materials; determine risk and safety factors for clients.

  • Develop and implement individual treatment plans, specifying type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy using evidence-based practices.

  • Provide all necessary documentation in the EHR of care provided to patient within 48 hours of meeting with client.

  • Collaborate with care team to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.

  • Conduct individual or group therapy sessions, coordinating care with LMP.

  • Consult with peer clinicians, Medical Director, and primary care providers as needed.

  • In consultation with LMP, the effectiveness of counseling or treatments and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses, modifying plans and diagnoses as necessary.

  • Provide support around mental health topics to Prism Health staff to create an environment which is best able to respond to the needs of a patient.

  • Anticipate and identify problems that affect patient care and use appropriate problem-solving processes to correct and eliminate problems.
