The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Behavioral Health Technician is a member of a multi-disciplinary care team who facilitates skill development and serves as direct care in the milieu for the customer-owners in a program. This person facilitates and supports customer-owner care that is highly interactive and participatory where customer-owners have the opportunity to build, share, and express knowledge through open dialogue around issues or problems with a focus on the customer-owner's outcomes. This person is responsible for ensuring a safe and supportive treatment environment. This person may provide supervision of the customer-owner to meet State of Alaska Licensing regulations.

This position has two (2) levels designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences. Progression between job levels is based on the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of experience working in a behavioral health setting; OR a combination of education and experience with major course work and experience in Counseling, Psychology, and/or Social Sciences.

(For example: Two (2) years completed in an accredited college or university with one (1) year of supervised experience in substance abuse recovery, mental health services, or case management services; OR three (3) years of supervised experience in substance abuse recovery, mental health services, or case management services; OR demonstrated proficiency as a Mental Health Worker II at SCF.)
2.At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
3.Must meet the following conditions to qualify as an approved SCF driver:

  • Valid Alaska driver's license that meets State of Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) license requirements to include:

  • May drive in Alaska for up to 90 days with a valid out-of-State license, then must obtain an Alaska driver's license.

  • For Commercial driver licenses, you must obtain an Alaska CDL within 30 days of becoming a resident.

  • No more than three (3) moving traffic violations (as defined by Alaska Statutes Title 28); OR two (2) at-fault traffic accidents in the previous three (3) years.

  • The driver must not have had 'Driving Under the Influence' (DUI); OR 'Driving While Intoxicated' (DWI); OR 'Operating Under the Influence' (OUI) violations as follows:

  • Zero (0) violations in the past five (5) years.

  • No more than two (2) violations in the past ten (10) years.

  • Drivers must be at least 18 years of age. Drivers 18 through 20 years of age may only transport equipment, materials, and employees. Drivers who transport customers must be 21 years of age or older and must have completed the probationary period of license requirements for Alaska.

  • Prior to hire date, must provide current copy no more than 60 days old of driving record from issuing State.

Additional Qualifications for Behavioral Health Technician II:

  • Two (2) additional years of professional and supervised social service or related work experience working in a residential behavioral health setting; OR equivalent combination of education and experience; OR demonstrated proficiency as a Behavioral Health Technician I at SCF.

VIEW JOBS 8/9/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-07T00:00 The Alaska Native Liaison will support strong communications and effective working relationships between the Optum Alaska Administrative Services Organization (ASO), Tribal Health Organizations (THOs), tribal participants, and other stakeholders in Alaska's behavioral healthcare delivery system. The Alaska Native Liaison will assist THOs and their Behavioral Health Directors understand and comply with the ASO's policies related to mental health and substance use services reimbursed by funding provided through the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. In collaboration with Optum Alaska regional care coordination teams, the Alaska Native Liaison will serve as a point of contact for both individual tribal participants and BH Director to support access to treatment, continuity of care and cost-effective use of funds available for mental health and substance use treatment services, including transportation. Upon request, the Alaska Native Liaison will provide orientation to Alaska's behavioral health delivery system and the ASO's services to THOs and tribal communities. The Alaska Native Liaison will serve as a member of the Optum Alaska Executive Management Team and assist Optum Alaska team members adapt policies, procedures, and outreach efforts as necessary to support effective behavioral health services and interactions with and between Alaska's tribal and non-tribal behavioral health delivery systems. The Alaska Native Liaison also will provide the Optum Alaska team with ongoing training and feedback about the tribal health delivery system. Primary Responsibilities: * Represent the perspective of Native Alaska participants and tribal health organizations on the Optum Alaska ASO Executive Management Team (CEO and direct reports), other ASO committees and in other duties * Establish regular communications with designated representative(s) of the Alaska Native Tribal Healthcare Consortium in support of policy development, shared training and feedback * Ensure consistency between policies and procedures developed by Optum Alaska with DHSS program staff responsible for DHSS' working relationships with the tribal health organizations and tribes * Develop and regularly update training material for Optum Alaska staff on the tribal healthcare delivery system and its interface with the non-tribal system * Provide training, especially with emphasis on behavioral health services to tribal communities and BH teams * Assist Optum regional care coordination teams, individual participants and THO Behavioral Health Directors to overcome service barriers * Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Community Health Aides and Behavioral Health Aides employed by THOs with a particular focus on supporting discharge planning for Alaska Native participants being discharged from 24-hour services outside their regions * Support Peer Support Specialists in establishing peer support programs in tribal regions * Encourage tribal participants, their families and THO providers to fully utilize ASO resources including on-line educational material and virtual treatment team communications * Document and track service gaps by region, and how they impede the effective delivery of behavioral health services to tribal participants * Provide feedback on needs of tribal participants and/or THO providers through Optum Alaska quality management committees or other initiatives Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or higher level of education * 2 years of experience in developing & implementing policies &/or managing services as part of Alaska's tribal health delivery system * 2 years of experience in Alaska's tribal behavioral health care delivery system * Proficiency in MS Office applications * Residence in the state of Alaska Preferred Qualifications: * Bilingual in one of the Alaska Native languages * Senior-level policy or management experience, preferably in Alaska's tribal healthcare delivery system * Demonstrated ability to resolve issues at both individual and organizational levels * Knowledge of the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services' government-to-government relationship with Alaska Tribes * Proven communication and training skills, written and verbal * Ability to establish and maintain strategic relationships with network providers' senior leadership Careers with Optum.
