Position Title: Behavioral Health Tech Department: Adult Psychiatric


Purpose:


Participates in the provision of safe, quality patient care as delegated by the Nurse Manager.

The Technician greets patients upon admission to the Behavioral Health Unit.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to; providing patient unit orientation, providing the patient with the standard daily activity schedule and setting behavior expectations during the patients stay on the unit. The Technician leads group sessions to develop patient relationships.

Sessions include daily goal setting and follow up with patients to track their accomplishments.

The position requires the ability to establish rapport and trust with patients and the ability to offer interventions if patient situations escalate. The Technician may be required to assist with patient personal care and perform health monitoring activities.

Supervisory Responsibility:


No Supervision:

The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others.


Materials Responsibility:


Very Limited.

Work requires very limited responsibility for material resources.

Examples of resources could include personal work materials, supplies or equipment, or very small amounts of cash. The employee has a very limited or indirect amount of control over these resources.

Although human error might require the repair or replacement of materials, usually the cost of correcting these errors is minor.

The variety and volume of resources is also very limited. Problems associated with material resources are very uncomplicated.

Interaction is with a variety of people.

These may be fellow employees, customers, the public or others outside the organization.

Communications are of limited difficulty. Interactions usually involve short, straightforward exchanges of information.

The job requires a limited amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions are non-stressful encounters and dealing with uncomplicated problem situations.


Working Conditions:


There is routine exposure to highly adverse environmental conditions including physical hazards, health and safety risks, and otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.

Personal risks require safety equipment or precautions to be followed closely. The time the employee may be exposed to these conditions is limited to 70% or less of the work day.
