The Licensure and Certification team is comprised of professionals in the areas of Behavioral Health Clinical Services, Residential Services, Legal, Complaints, Incident Reporting, and Risk Management, and Training and Development. We support the licensing and certification process to almost 2,400 providers throughout Ohio geographically located based on our six regional psychiatric hospital regions Ohio.

We are accepting applications for a Behavioral Health Standards Surveyor, position number 20038139 within the Office of Licensure and Certification headquartered at the James Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad Street, 7th floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

This position is currently a hybrid position (subject to change). The position will report to the State Office Tower in Columbus two days per week. During the remainder of the week, the successful applicant would be responsible for performing surveys in the Southeast Ohio region (counties served by Appalachian Behavioral Health) and teleworking for the remainder of the week.

Primary work location will be James Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad Street, 7th floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

What you will do…

  • Lead surveyor for a diverse group of behavioral health providers: community behavioral health centers, opioid treatment programs, residential housing providers, psychiatric hospitals, and mental health and substance use disorder residential treatment facilities.

  • Be part of a professional, experienced, and competent licensure and certification team!

  • As the lead surveyor, you will be responsible for all aspects of the licensure or certification process such as responding to initial, update, and renewal applications through desk reviews, field based onsite survey reviews, investigating reportable incidents and complaints, and testifying in legal proceedings.

  • Complete documentation in a web-based environment designed exclusively for the Office of Licensure and Certification.

  • Or Completion of undergraduate core program in human services area, mental health & developmental disabilities technology, social work or comparable field (e.g., child & family community services, alcohol & drug addiction, psychology, sociology, nursing); 24 mos. exp. in certification (e.g., review of written applications for compliance with rules & regulations) or 24 mos. exp. in mental health or alcohol & drug addiction practice; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in coordination or development of mental health &/or alcohol & drug treatment &/or prevention services; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in administration or operation of regulations &/or standards governing programming & environment in mental health, alcohol & drug treatment &/or prevention services or related facilities; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. writing technical reports, providing consultation, technical assistance &/or training to groups concerning program development &/or interpretation & implementation of rules, standards, policies & guidelines for mental health or related issues; must be able to provide own transportation.
