OVERVIEW OF CCA

The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. POSITION SUMMARY

The Community College of Aurora is looking for an engaging, inclusive, and equity-minded staff member to assist with the fall 2024 launch and continued support for our Behavioral Health Program. We will be offering five new micro-credential certificates and two new AAS degrees in the behavioral health field. We are seeking talented candidates who value and support the college's mission and goals of improving retention and success rates as well as closing the equity gap for underrepresented students. The Navigator's commitment extends beyond program completion to supporting graduates transitioning to their next academic pursuit or embarking on their job search. Additionally, the Behavioral Health Navigator will assist in the identification and solidification of experiential learning sites. Candidates should have a strong understanding of systemic barriers to student success and a commitment to helping students overcome those barriers. CCA expects high academic standards, high student support, and a strong commitment to student engagement and success. This is a full-time, grant-funded support staff position, which requires on-campus presence. There will be an option for up to two remote days per week. Grant funding is in place through December 2026, with a possibility of moving to general funding at that time. Colorado residency is required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Behavioral Health Department Chair with fall 2024 program launch

  • Assist students in navigating college policies, procedures, and resources

  • Mentor students with questions about required courses and scheduling plan for each micro-credential and degree

  • Develop partnerships with local and state-wide behavioral health organizations to foster community collaboration and establish site placement options for students

  • Meet with industry partners and ensure a clear plan is devised for skills development by the students

  • Provide support to those employers and deal with any queries that arise

  • Undertake regular reviews with students in site placements and complete necessary review paperwork

  • Monitor and analyze student and industry partner feedback on site placements and use this to make changes to placement process if appropriate

  • Identify issues with student placements and collaborate with CCA staff and industry leadership to facilitate appropriate resolutions

  • Mentor students on the career exploration process by helping them discover and reflect on their personal skills, values, and interests

  • Help students develop a professional identity, including resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, job search strategies, etc.

  • Maintain strong partnerships with community organizations and assist with job planning and placement for students ready to graduate

  • Stay current with and implement expectations by reading emails regularly and attending departmental, divisional, and college meetings as called by the Chair, Dean, Vice President of Academic Success, and President

  • Complete all required trainings set forth by Department Chair and leadership team

  • Understand and uphold the vision, mission, and values of the college, while abiding by all relevant CCA guidelines, and CCCS/SBCCOE policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health or a related discipline (Psychology, Sociology, Health Sciences, etc.) or Associate's degree in one of the above disciplines plus two years' experience in the field

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, interpersonal, critical thinking, and written/verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills; ability to navigate digital tools

  • Ability to work well in teams and independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in a community college setting

  • Experience working as a high school counselor, student case manager, admissions representative, recruiter, career coach, or similar

  • Practical work experience in cultivating partnerships

  • Experience guiding students through academic programs and site placements in the health care field

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range:  Anticipated starting salary range is $50,215.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
