Job Announcement

This position works as a part of the Residential Treatment & Detox Services division. This is an exciting opportunity for hands on management, clinical experience, professional development, and potential advancement in a progressive Fairfax County agency. This position is primarily Monday through Friday during business hours as well as some on-call duties as needed.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, theories, and methods of the psychological and social development of the individual;

  • Knowledge of various behavioral health treatment and prevention strategies, methods, and techniques;

  • Knowledge of intake procedures, social history development, and interviewing techniques;

  • Knowledge of psychiatric, psychological, and/or sociological terminology and concepts;

  • Knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction and the physiological and psychological effects;

  • Knowledge of co-occurring developmental disabilities;

  • Knowledge of managed care and Medicaid requirements;

  • Knowledge of referral agencies and community resources;

  • Knowledge of budgetary procedures;

  • Ability to develop, coordinate, and manage behavioral health programs;

  • Ability to plan, develop, and evaluate a variety of evidence based service delivery options;

  • Ability to manage, train, and supervise a variety of clinical and support staff;

  • Ability to provide consultation in areas of clinical expertise;

  • Ability to compile and analyze data and draw sound conclusions;

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, co-workers, public and private sector organizations, community groups and the general public;

  • Ability to lead/motivate a workforce to achieve program objectives;

  • Ability to work as a team member/leader and develop teamwork in others;

  • Ability to conduct performance evaluations and implement personnel policies and procedures;

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;

  • Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field, plus five years of related professional experience, of which two, years must have been in a supervisory role.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, a driving record check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire.

This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker,

  • Licensed Professional Counselor,

  • Clinical Psychologist,

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist,

  • Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, or

  • Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Three or more years of managerial experience in an SUD/COD (co-occurring disorder) setting or equivalent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Ability to observe client behavior/appearance and communicate/converse clearly with clients and co-workers. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

Panel Interview and may include a practical exercise.
