  • Observes, reports and records behavior of residents

  • Assists in the delivery of physical care for residents as needed

  • Provides an accurate summary of each youth's daily behavior in their progress notes

  • Assists in the treatment and rehabilitation of residents, in accordance with the treatment plan, unit philosophy, and program policies

  • Assists in the maintenance of the unit environment in compliance with the treatment plan, unit philosophy, and program policies

  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to learn new procedures and develops new skills

  • Maintains a professional and ethical code of behavior

  • Facilitates thorough room/resident searches

  • Assigns and facilitates Group Talks

  • Facilitates Self Calls

  • Assigns and ensures youth's follow up on Rational Thinking Papers and Therapeutic Follow Up assignments

  • Identifies normal childhood/adolescent problems, i.e., overly timid, general negativism, from abnormal childhood/adolescent behavior

  • Identifies forces that shape development of children/adolescents through childhood/adolescent years

  • Responds with therapeutic interventions to childhood/adolescent disruptive behavior disorders of:

  • Separation anxiety

  • ADHD

  • Impaired social interaction

  • Disturbance of self-concept/self-esteem

  • Ineffective coping

  • Sexual acting out

  • Aggressive behaviors

  • Suicidal ideations

  • Facilitates residents through developmental task of identity versus role confusion

  • Assists residents in adjusting to changes related to puberty, if needed

  • Identifies verbal and non-verbal cues for potential aggressive behavior and applies de-escalation techniques to situation

  • Differentiates between acute and chronic problems

  • Facilitates evolution of independent life skills development

  • Provides individual care to each resident while being consistent in privileges and consequences

  • Appropriately complete Incident Reports, as needed

  • Attends all mandatory trainings

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

VIEW JOBS 1/6/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-04-06T00:00 We Are Hiring * Ascension St. John Hospital Location * Must be fully licensed LMSW * Must have Behavioral Health experience preferably in The ED * Mon-Tues-Wed 7AM-7:30PM weekly, and a floating 8 Hour shift to complete administrative tasks. What You Will Do Lead assigned staff in performing activities or tasks in behavioral health services. * Lead or coordinate shift operations of assigned activities, resources, and/or associates. * Serve as a technical or functional resource and perform similar duties with staff. * Assign, monitor and review progress of work. Monitor and report compliance with policies and/or procedures. * Oversee and evaluate orientation and training of assigned associates. May provide input in the review and evaluation of staff performance. What You Will Need Licensure / Certification / Registration: * BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA. * One or more of the following required: * Social Worker credentialed from the Michigan Board of Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Any level accepted. * Social Worker specializing in Clinical Practice credentialed from the Michigan Board of Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Any level accepted. * Counselor specializing in Alcohol and Drug Abuse credentialed from the Michigan Certification Board for Addition Professionals (MCBAP) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * Psychologist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Psychology obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * Therapist obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Any issuing authority accepted. Education: * High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required. Work Experience: * 1 year of experience required. Behavioral Health experience, preferably in the ED, preferred.
