Behavior Technician

The purpose of this position is to implement behavior analytic services, under the ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for children and young

adults served by the Anne Carlsen Center. The services include implementation of client's behavioral support programs as well as evidence-based curriculum, interventions, and programming. The position provides training, guidance, and direction to the client's team and staff. The position effectively utilizes problem-solving skills in determining client needs and staff training needs.

scope and complexity OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position assumes the authority, responsibility and accountability for providing staff with training and consultation in the application of the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and behavioral support services and programs. The incumbent serves as a positive role model for staff and students. The incumbent is under the general supervision of the Behavioral Support Coordinator.

The position works within the guidelines of ACC policies/procedures, State and Federal Laws, Rules, and Regulations.

Job Specifications:

  • The incumbent is required to have a minimum of a high school diploma. Other requirements include completion of the 40 hours of an RBT training program, complete a criminal background check, pass the RBT Competency Assessment, and pass the RBT exam, as well as being DD certified. Therefore, the incumbent must

maintain their RBT credential by annually passing the RBT Competency Assessment

and receive ongoing supervision from a BCBA (which is a minimum of 5% of the

hours they provide serviced in a month). Extensive training in the principles

and techniques of ABA and evidence-based curriculum as a primary methodology

and experience in the application of this is required. Support and training of

the staff in the implementation of the necessary behavioral support and

curriculum practices are an essential function.

  • The incumbent must have knowledge, understanding and training in the implementation of behavior programs, behavior analytic services, evidence-based practices, data collection for the purpose of carrying out the client programs, training and supporting staff, collecting data, completing indirect and direct assessment, and updating reports.

  • The incumbent must have effective skills in organization, supervision, leadership,

and communication - both written and oral.

The incumbent must be able to direct the work of others using problem

solving skills, the ability to adapt to rapid change, and the ability to be

able to intervene promptly in crisis/emergency situations is essential. The

incumbent must be able to learn and follow ACC and department procedures and practices. The position requires demonstration of effective interpersonal skills; being

tactful, courteous, and diplomatic with internal and external contacts.

  • The incumbent must be able to support, interpret, and communicate ACC, State, and

Federal policies, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations for the department.

  • The incumbent must maintain accurate and complete records of all evidence-based

curriculum and behavioral data.

  • The incumbent must be able to give on the spot training and coaching of behavior plans and behavior analytic services.

  • The incumbent must understand and have a working knowledge of Windows, Intranet, and Internet technology.

The incumbent must have the ability to access, manipulate, organize, and relay information in

meaningful ways using emails, phones, etc.
