Primary Purpose:
Provides leadership and coordination of services and programs that support students with behavior problems including behaviors associated with emotional disturbance and autism. Facilitates the design of services and programs by working in collaboration with campus administrators, teachers and support staff. Engages in educational planning and decision making that supports quality programs and services in collaboration with the other Behavior Coordinators. Provides and/or facilitates effective professional development to effectively build the capacity of personnel serving students with behavior problems.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree
Texas Teaching Certificate
Experience in program development and implementation for students with significant behavior an
emotional problems
Trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written
Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
Knowledge of and experience with various behavior interventions
Ability to work independently and with a team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to analyze problem situations and provide effective solutions
Performance Responsibilities and Duties:
Job Scope
Works with other Behavior Coordinators, Behavior Liaisons, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, CHAMPS coach, campus administrators and teachers to ensure program integrity and compliance with legal requirements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Model core organizational beliefs and values; communicate openly and effectively within and across teams; manage resources to effectively support district goals.
Assist in analyzing the critical needs in assigned areas and supports efforts to design, implement, measure and improve programs and services.
Provide leadership and support to SAP and TIP classes.
Provide program support and service delivery and communicate effectively with district and campus personnel.
Assist teachers in designing appropriate classrooms to meet the needs of students.
Assist campus administrators and teachers in developing appropriate services for students.
Participate in ARD meetings as necessary to provide input regarding student needs including instructional and behavior supports.
Develop, conduct or assist with professional development in areas of assignment.
Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance skills to more effectively serve personnel.
Maintain the confidentiality of all student information.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Must be able to utilize approved physical restraints as needed. Must have the ability to move from one location to another. Able to work with students who may demonstrate extreme behavioral and emotional problems.
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Grade: Administrative-Professional - 4
