Behavior Specialist Position

Priority given to BCBA

Highly qualified Behavior Specialist with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist individuals and schools with implementing and applying Positive Behavior Supports.

This person will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and write Behavior Plans to address student behaviors and provide a means for students to become more academically successful.

Model and support students, staff, and families in the Behavior Plan implementation.

Assist staff in defining and measuring behavior, taking data, understanding principles of reinforcement, identifying antecedents, and teaching new behaviors.

Work cooperatively with the building administrator to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies, and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior supports in their classrooms.

Leading schools toward school-wide PBIS implementation including all Tier I elements.

Implementing PBIS Tier II strategies such as Check in/Check out, social skills instruction, and other interventions.

Provide professional development in the areas of classroom management and school-wide behavior management strategies.

Provide yearly professional development in the areas of de-escalation and restraint training.

Attend professional development opportunities to maintain a high level of skill and knowledge of current research and practices.
