PURPOSE OF POSITION: To improve patient outcomes by providing specialized behavioral consultation and education for patients to unit staff, MDs, teachers, parents, and other care providers of children both internal and external to the medical center. Provide intensive individualized care per request.
Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.
Consistently integrates age specific and culturally diverse concepts into patient care, taking into consideration both the patient's chronological age and developmental functioning.
Provide improved communications regarding the care and progress, diagnosis and behavioral needs for a defined population of children. Participate in daily Interdisciplinary Team rounds. Communication will be with the treatment team, family, and outside agencies as demonstrated both verbally and in writing. Performs procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, behavioral assessment, treatment planning, reassessment and discontinuation of care. Provide as needed, group, therapy, and individual teaching for patients and families.
Provide thorough documentation of treatment plans, interventions, and outcomes. Develop and implement individualized teaching for patients and families.
Educate other disciplines, residents, and staff concerning the behavioral assessment and treatment of children and their families. Assist in grant writing as requested, to secure financial support. Provide as needed, group therapy, and individual teaching for patients and families; provides ongoing clinical supervision to staff regarding their professional practice. Provide staff training related individualized behavioral programs, milieu management and program accommodations. Provide consultation to school districts and/or parents regarding an individual child to assist in the management of behavioral difficulties. Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge in to the Division of Psychiatry. Develop knowledge and professional skills through cross-training., literature and attendance of department meetings. Promotes a positive work environment. Participates in professional growth opportunities. Serves on committees and/or work groups effecting the department, hospital and/or community. Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences and inservice programs to develop skill sand promote a positive work environment.
Communicates clearly parental attitudes and behaviors that may affect treatment both verbally and in writing. Facilitate problem solving of behavioral-medical treatment options. Participate in team staffing of children and clinical case reviews as they occur. Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged Function as a member of the inpatient units to provide support and input regarding parental issues or child characteristics that influence the treatment of the child.

2 years clinical experience including working with families and children with behavioral problems, conducting functional analysis, assisting with treatment development implementing/monitoring behavioral treatment programs
Experience in clinic and community settings, and report writing
