MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS REQUIRED:

1.Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree and Indiana teaching licensed area preferred; a valid Indiana teaching license with a School Social Worker's certification required; or, a valid Indiana Student Services License preferred. LCSW preferred. A desire to continue acquiring professional knowledge and pursuing current developments in the social work best practices required.

2.Experience: Previous school social work experience is preferred.

SALARY BENEFITS: Salary range $52,750-96,000

ASSIGNED WORKDAYS PER YEAR: 185 days

GENERAL FUNCTIONS/PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs related duties as directed by the AHS Administration, OASIS Coordinator, and Director of Special Education

  • interact with students to identify barriers related to a successful student learning experience. Areas of focus will include addressing social, emotional, and/or mental health challenges to assist in the development of positive skills and outlook toward self as well as improved relationships with school, learning, peers, parents, teachers, and/or families.

  • Provide culturally responsive services to students, staff, families and community partners; thorough understanding of child development, including the application of social work theories and current best practice standards; delivery of social work counseling services, including but not limited to 1:1, small group, crisis intervention/assessment, and/or consultation; adept in the time management, planning, organization, and documentation that relates to the delivery of social work services and counseling; effective interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, families, and school personnel. Utilize an understanding and knowledge of community resources to ensure appropriate referrals. Knowledgeable about student disabilities and strategies to support student, classroom, teacher, and building.

  • Foster and maintain a good relationship with pupils, staff, patrons, vendors, and the community. Display tact, courtesy and excellent etiquette that demonstrates genuine care and concern for staff, students, parents, and other members of the community. Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students. Collaborate with others across a variety of functions and backgrounds. Demonstrate proficient communication skills both verbally and in writing. Work independently with limited direction to effectively meet deadlines and mitigate stressful situations. Comply with all Corporation policies, procedures, and guidelines. Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Direct Service with Students:

  • Crisis and behavior intervention

  • Debrief and analyze student behavior

  • Student problem solving coaching

  • Facilitate social skills groups with students and social skills coaching

  • Life Skills coaching

  • Peer mediation sessions

  • Provide instruction in character development

  • Harassment/bullying intervention

  • Facilitate individual and small group intervention sessions related to student needs

  • Assess appropriateness for OASIS placement and transitions

  • Assessment and referral to in school or outside resources • Parent/child conflict resolution

  • Case management

  • File DCS reports of abuse

  • Facilitate outside agency support for student

  • Attend case conference committee meetings

  • Assist with transitions between homeschool and OASIS 2. Direct Service with Parents

  • Field calls from parents asking for help with their child's behavior

  • Meet with parent due to a crisis with their child, facilitate hospitalization if necessary

  • Contact parent to make a referral to counseling, and provide resources if desired

  • Assist with parent requested drug screen

  • Offer support to parent by phone or in the office

  • Meet with parents and students within the community or within the home setting
