JOB SUMMARY:

Provide specially designed instruction to students who exhibit social, emotional and/or behavioral needs and access education through the district's RISE behavior program. Assist students in developing skills, attitudes, and knowledge necessary to be successful in the school environment, based on individual needs identified in each student's Individual Education Program (IEP). Collaborate with school and district staff members in the development and implementation of a strong, behavior-focused program.

QUALIFICATIONS

1.Current Idaho teaching certificate with Exceptional Child endorsement

2.Strong background in teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroom activities, and effective classroom management

3.Strong background in behavior management, curriculum, relationship development, and instructional strategies for students who exhibit challenging behaviors

4.Knowledge of the special education process, including evaluation, eligibility, and IEP development and implementation

5.Experience in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

6.Knowledge and understanding of principles of applied behavior analysis and the process of behavior change

7.Strong background in supporting students/individuals with emotional, social, and behavioral needs

8.Strong background in the integration of technology with instruction

9.Ability to maintain a positive learning environment

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction

1.Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students

2.Provide academic, social, emotional, and behavioral instruction that is aligned with each student's Individual Education Program (IEP) and Idaho Content Standards

3.Coordinate, oversee, and lead the delivery of special education supports and services identified in each student's IEP

4.Design instruction with an appropriate level of difficulty and provide content in a logical and sequential manner

5.Employ a variety of instructional strategies and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved

6.Prepare for, meet, and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated

7.Plan and implement appropriate instructional and behavioral intervention strategies to facilitate behavior change and assist students who exhibit challenging behaviors to increase pro-social, safe behaviors

8.Actively participate in IEP team meetings and staffings as required

9.Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs



  1. Analyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activities

  2. Implement the Idaho Core Standards, as well as the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, in lesson plans, classroom instruction, unit planning, and assessments

  3. Devise written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well as the reproduction of facts, and use them to evaluate student progress on a regular basis

  4. Prepare students academically for all district, state, and federal testing
