Job Definition: Under the general supervision of the building principal and in conjunction with the Behavior and Social Emotional Lead, design, implement, coordinate, problem solve and evaluate comprehensive behavior supports and social-emotional learning programs for students.

Nature and Scope of Work: Responsibilities include cultivating and promoting a safe, learning-centered school environment by encouraging positive student behaviors, leading interventions based on student behavior needs, supporting classroom teachers in student behavior management, assisting building administration in solving behavior related issues, responding to and deescalating student crises, implementing a schoolwide social-emotional learning program, and building positive partnerships with families.

Essential Job Functions:
In alliance and coordination with the Behavioral and Social Emotional Learning Lead, the Behavior Interventionist will: Serve as a resource in dealing with classroom management issues, students who have emotional and/or disciplinary problems utilizing effective instructional practices.
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs, activities, and intervention strategies promoting positive student behavior.
Instruction includes social skill development, self-management strategies, self-regulation and co-regulation strategies which can shift between focusing on Tier I, II, and III students depending on building needs.
Support students and staff in de-escalation of students. Continually assesses skill level, ability and progress of students' emotional and behavioral needs.
Serve on Student Study, First Response, and IEP Teams to assist in identifying emotional/behavioral needs of individual students and strategies for supporting them.
Lead the development of Behavior Intervention Plans, Functional Behavior Assessments, and Educational Crisis/Safety plans.
Provide teacher and instructional assistant training in behavior intervention strategies, Character Strong, Zones of Regulation, Trauma-Informed Practice, Collaborative Problems Solving (CPS) and/or Positive Behavior Intervention Support.
Provide leadership and direction to educational assistants within the check in check out program.
Lead the development of Social Skills groups for students that teach social and academic skills, self-regulation strategies, and appropriate decision-making skills. Support the Social Skills Specialist in the implementation and evaluation of Social Skills Groups.
Evaluate and report student progress on social, emotional and behavioral goals.
Initiate and maintain ongoing parent contact and communication with colleagues.
Assist in the assessment of program needs and the planning required to meet those needs.
Liaison to coordinate supports with outside providers.
Provide and lead district wide instruction on self-regulation, social skills, and self-management.
Maintain accurate, complete and confidential records as required by law and district policy.
Assist the building administration in solving behavior related issues.
Fulfills other related duties as assigned or assumed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Current concepts, methods and procedures for program development in social skill areas, behavior plans, PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Support), Trauma-Informed Practice, Collaborative Problems Solving, Special Education law, and discipline procedures.
Behavior development theories, strategies, and systems.
Evaluation techniques for social, emotional, and behavioral IEP goals.
Positive motivation and reinforcement strategies.
Classroom and behavior management techniques and strategies.
Development of environmental supports for students that have experienced trauma.
Maintenance of accurate records and skilled at meeting deadlines.
Skilled working harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, teachers, and community.
Active listening and effective communication in confrontational and emotional situations involving staff, students, and/or parents.

Education and Experience: Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
Must hold a valid Oregon Teaching License
Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
Pre-employment drug screening will be required
Valid Oregon Driver's license and satisfactory driving record and proof of insurance
Safe Schools training as required
Complete Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training (District Provided)

Working Conditions: The employee works with groups of students and/or staff on a one-to-one or group basis.

Students include those who may be learning disabled, emotionally disturbed and culturally different. Supervision and instructional responsibilities require the employee to be able to stand for up to 45 consecutive minutes and move rapidly to intervene in situations where a student's safety is being jeopardized. The supervision may also occur during times of inclement weather. The employee needs to be able to lift materials, boxes or equipment weighting up to 30 pounds.

Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be in accordance with the current schedule.
Mileage will be reimbursed at the established Internal Revenue Service mileage rate.
Cell phone stipend of $40 per month.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy.

Annual Salary Range: $46,790.00 - $80,429.00
1.0 FTE
