Essential Duties:
Work with individual teachers, groups of teachers, and/or the entire staff on issues such as: crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that can affect development and implementation of interventions.
Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which "at risk" students thrive.
Support school staff by modeling behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated, and provides ample practice.
Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research strategies, and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in their classrooms.
Improve student instruction by assisting teachers with distinguishing disruptive student behaviors through modeling positive behavior supports and implementing strategies related to the target behavior.
Serve as a consultant to administrators, teachers, and parents.
Organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job.
Provide services to students with disabilities in both the self-contained and general education settings.
Participate in eligibility and IEP meetings, as needed.
Develop and assist school staff with the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans, as needed.
Participate in disciplinary hearings, as needed.
Assist in planning and organizing district and school level staff development.
Monitor records and procedures within the local school program for compliance with federal, state and local rules and regulations.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field, required; Master's degree, preferred.
Experience teaching students with behavior related issues, preferred.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training, and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification, preferred.
Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
