JOB SUMMARY: The Behavioral Case Manager is responsible for managing the full broad range of clinical duties, as well as special assignments. General duties include (but are not limited to): conducting behavioral assessments, creating evidence-based behavior intervention plans, team consultation/collaboration, providing oversight and training on individualized behavior plans and general best-practice behavioral strategies, and providing crisis intervention and monitoring. The Behavioral Case Manager will take the lead on conducting assessment and treatment sessions for students under the guidance of the Supervising Clinician and Clinical Coordinator for Summit Academy Enhanced. The Behavioral Case Manager will take the lead role of guiding Behavioral Support Specialists within assessment and treatment sessions and work collaboratively with the Teacher to guide the Behavior Support Specialists within the classroom setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Behavior Case Manager must be able to consistently and successfully perform all essential functions of the position.

  • Conduct and complete evidence-based behavioral assessments

  • Formulate function-based behavior interventions

  • Develop and write required reports in a timely manner

  • Present reports and progress updates to various committees, collaboration groups, and parent meetings as requested

  • Measure progress and implementation fidelity for Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Treatment Plans

  • Train staff in best practice methods for treatment sessions, including implementation of written protocols, data collection, and assessment procedures.

  • Provide team consultation and direct support to classroom teams as needed

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams when making treatment decisions

  • Provide and oversee crisis intervention services for students

  • Ensure that IEP mandates are fulfilled

  • Maintain all records as required by Summit and governing agencies

  • Conduct all duties, responsibilities, and daily activities in accordance with current best practice and ethical guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of position skill and/or ability required.

  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Fingerprint clearance through OPWDD Criminal Background Check unit. Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) (or in process) required.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master's degree (or in process) in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, School Psychology, or a related field. Experience in developing and implementing behavioral support plans with developmentally disabled individuals using Applied Behavior Analysis methods.
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Employee displays the ability to convey information to another effectively and efficiently. Displays good verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills to help facilitate meaningful sharing of information between people within the organization as well as outside of the organization when necessary. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills to all stakeholders. Stakeholders include but are not limited to, individuals served, peers, supervisors, and external contacts.
  • OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to receive and apply feedback. Ability to identify and solve problems by acting decisively and showing good judgment. Ability to gather information needed to understand a situation in order to take timely and appropriate action. Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary team during the decision-making process. Ability to maintain emotional control and composure when faced with urgent or difficult decisions. Ability to input and analyze data for data-based decision making. Adheres to SAE program's values of growth, compassion and student-centered approaches.

  • Sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Have full usage of sensory abilities (vision, hearing, speech, and tactile senses)

  • Perform bodily movements without restriction, with full use of all limbs

  • Physical ability to successfully apply Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention - Revised (SCIP-R) and Ukeru blocking procedures appropriately for all children participating in programs

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Due to the behavioral disorders of some of the individuals we serve, persons may be at risk of intentional or unintentional acts of aggression (e.g., hitting, kicking, and biting). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The position may require local and regional travel and the employee must be able to drive to various locations using their own vehicle.
