To coordinate and supervise behavior analysis and support services (including assessment and treatment) provided by Behavior Analysts with assistance from Behavioral Programming Specialists (described as "ancillary" staff by the NC Psychology Board) to approximately 70 residents with intellectual disabilities within an interdisciplinary team process. The position will be directly responsible for a portion of these 70 people carrying a caseload independent of those practitioners supervised. Position supervises Behavior Analysts by consulting on complex or difficult cases, coordinates and organizes duties that involve the various settings across the residents' living and work areas, arranges for Behavior Analyst staff's professional supervision, training and development, monitors and assists in all aspects of their performance,  and ensures credential requirements are being met.  These services are assisted by "ancillary" psychology staff with performance supervised by the Behavior Analyst Supervisory position under NC licensure compliance oversight by the Director of Psychology, who provides clinical and administrative supervision of all Psychology Department Staff.  Position provides staff training and consultation to all levels of staff as needed, consults Center-wide in areas of expertise, and provides community consultation and services as requested. Position attends annual habilitation/person-centered planning meetings, mini-team meetings, core team meetings, medication review meetings, and other planning sessions as required; participation in the development of individual habilitation/person-centered plans; preparation of reports on current status of ongoing behavior support goals and programs with documentation of progress; and discussions and interpretation of findings of behavioral assessments. Position designs and evaluates service delivery systems. Position participates in regular learning activities such as departmental meetings, reading groups, resident case formulation and clinical case reviews, training and teaching sessions, and workshop/conference attendance. Position supports and/or conducts applied research on improving understanding and treatment for people with intellectual disabilities and related developmental disabilities.

This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Salary Grade MH16;Recruitment Range $57,712.00 - $95,224.00

In June of 2018 NC Human Resources notified the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center that a state position titled "Behavior Analyst" had been created that would allow for the recruitment of applicants with specific skills in behavior analysis that had completed or were being trained and supervised by acceptable professionals.

Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Management Preferences:

  • Management prefers a candidate that has experience supervising Behavior Analysts.

  • Knowledge and basic skills in assessment of intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities in terms of behavioral observations and evaluation of treatment/behavior support plans.

  • Knowledge and behavior analytic skills in assessment and treatment of learning and behavior disorders.

  • Knowledge in the principles underlying the development of adaptive behavior and basic skills in the application of this knowledge to the learning problems of persons with significant learning and behavior disorders.

  • Ability to train staff to conduct training and treatment/behavior support plans.

Master's Degree in Psychology or closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
