Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis (BGCSTL) invites applications for the position of Youth Development Professional at our local city high school. The Youth Development Professional is responsible for providing fun and engaging programming to high school aged youth. Hours during the school year are typically high school class hours. Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate is able to assist youth academically as well as provide mentorship during school hours.
Or a minimum of four years or more experience working with children in a group setting, camp counselor experience a plus.
Enthusiasm and patience for working with children and passion about education, health, character development and leadership.
Must be a team player and a self-starter.
Ability to work well with diverse populations.
A high degree of independence, flexibility, self-motivation, and creativity.
Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.
Promotes and stimulates program participation among members.
Provides guidance and role modeling to members.
Participates in new member orientation process.
Effectively implements and administers programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
Monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the facility at all times.
Participates in club-wide events.
Prepares activity reports.
Delivers programming, including group activities, high yield learning activities, guest speakers, and field trips.
Effectively completes assessments of programs and program participants using a variety of formal and informal assessment tools.
Facilitates and assists with coordination of special events and other youth-oriented activities.
Effectively engages parents through outreach and volunteer activities.
Reviews current programs and recommends changes based on performance data, member input and overall outcomes.
Inputs and gathers data, as appropriate, in the membership management and/or outcomes management system, works with other staff to implement special projects.
Ensures a healthy and safe environment for all members.
Works effectively with supervisor, other staff, members, parents, and community leaders and organizations to provide exemplary services to youth.
