Supports delivering sales plan through effective execution of store and operational tasks as assigned and delegated by managers.

Building High Performing Teams:

  • Attract, interview, and retain top talent

  • Responsible for leadership tasks as delegated by the store manager

  • Provide individual and team performance feedback and recommendations to managers

  • Train, coach, reward and motivate associates to improve selling and the customer experience

  • Reinforce selling expectations, performance, results and accountability with all associates

  • Assist store management in conducting onboarding and continued training of the associate team

  • May build schedules to maximize and leverage sales results*

Selling Effectiveness:

  • Lead and model the selling and customer experience standards

  • Lead selling efforts to meet selling goals during scheduled shifts

  • Ensure associates consistently execute to the selling model

  • Display expert knowledge of product, company policies and store strategies

  • Set the direction and goals for the day/shift when associates arrive for work

  • Build highly satisfied and loyal customer base through engagement, conversion and capturing customer phone and e-mail

  • Assist in meeting payroll targets by ensuring appropriate sales floor coverage (manage call-ins / call-offs)

  • Ensure associates receive scheduled breaks and meal periods (per state specific guidelines)

Telling The Brand Story:

  • Support replenishment activities that keep the store full and abundant

  • Provide leadership or assistance with floorsets, window changes, visual presentation standards, signage placement, etc.

  • Build a store environment that is sharply focused on consistently delivering exceptional in-store shopping experiences

  • Ensure implementation of company selling strategies

  • Execute visual standards and maintain a safe, inviting store appearance

Operational Excellence:

  • Perform opening and closing routines including execution of bank deposits, receipt of shipment, and interpret / disseminate company directive

  • Act as manager on duty, when scheduled, to address customer service, vendor or maintenance issues

  • Partner with the members of the sales leadership team to support action plans that optimize results and ensure effective execution of operational activities

  • Maintain policies and procedures

  • Incorporate Loss Prevention and safety messages into daily operations

Scheduling for this position includes Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm with a weekly night shift of 12-9 pm and weekend rotation. Reports to: Branch Management Employee Expectations: * Models excellent customer service attitude and assists customers in a tactful and effective manner * Provides a proactive level of customer service and assists customers through various aspects of utilizing the library * Supports, promotes, implements, and makes decisions based on established Library policies, guidelines, and programs * Contributes positively to the efforts of the Library * Establishes and maintains supportive working relationships with internal and external customers * Knowledge and support of the principles of intellectual freedom including the Library Bill of Rights and the Freedom to Read statement * Meets expectations set forth in Non-Exempt Employee Expectations Document * Exhibits self-motivation in managing changing priorities * Negotiates for win-win solution * Exhibits characteristics of life-long learner in willingness to investigate new ideas Essential Job Functions: * Learns, embraces and demonstrates technology * Acts as a guide for customers in use of the library and its resources * Recommends materials to customers, based on interests, needs and availability * Assists customers with library card accounts, including the receiving and recording of payment * Processes library materials for customer access * Ensures that library and its grounds are clean and orderly * Attends trainings off-site where transportation to another location in the service area will be expected * Uses creative techniques in displays to reach browsers who do not approach staff * Plans and creates eye-catching displays to break up the monotony of the stacks and draw customers into the collection * Opens and closes branch library * Presents storytime for various ages using early literacy tips and tools * Evaluates program, keeps records, and reports branch activity * Demonstrates a knowledge of age appropriate literature * Conducts outreach to and develops partnerships with community based organizations, including daycares and schools. * Coordinates and implements Library initiatives, including reading programs * Understands basic child development theories and their implications for library programming * Demonstrates an ability to work with different age groups * Makes decisions quickly and with little need for supervision Non-Essential Job Functions: * Shelves books and reads shelves for accurate material placement * Attends meetings, conferences and workshops * Performs basic custodial duties, as needed * Assists with branch special programs or events * May present children's programming to school age students * May present library resources to school classrooms Required Skills: * Uses effective verbal, written, and discreet communication * Performs duties requiring the exercise of professional skill, initiative and independent judgment * Successfully handles matters of conflict * Demonstrates proficiency in office productivity and other softwares * Exhibits knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System * Models excellent customer service attitude and delivery * Exhibits self-motivation with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities * Perform multiple tasks concurrently Experience and Training: * High School Diploma or GED Required * Bachelor's degree preferred * 2 years of relevant work experience required.
