Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for a Battery Storage Operations Program Manager to join our Planning, Engineering, and Construction team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Battery Storage Operations Program Manager do for us?

Manage operations and maintenance of Idaho Power owned battery energy storage systems (BESS) sites, including scheduling of all site maintenance activities, both planned and unplanned service visits, coordinating internal engineering and technician teams along with contracted service providers to ensure BESS sites operate reliably. Establish processes, procedures, and training for maintenance and emergency response. Manage the Long-Term Service Agreements with suppliers. Works closely with project management to inform new BESS projects and prepare for their reliable operation. Makes strategic recommendations for budget and staffing commensurate with the growth of Idaho Power's Battery Storage fleet. Champions the development of Idaho Power's BESS operations program.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • General engineering, construction, and O&M practices related to power system operations

  • Project Management practices

  • Safety Leadership principles, building and sustaining a culture focused on safety.

  • Outage scheduling and coordination requirements

Skills in:

  • Excellent interpersonal and professional communication

  • Proficient in planning and organizing

  • Team facilitation and collaboration with SMEs in support organizations

  • Microsoft Office products and Asset Suite

Ability to:

  • Supervise routine and emergency repairs on equipment

  • Use good judgment under pressure

  • Manage and track multiple project timelines, budgets, and forecasts

  • Work with personnel of various departments and organizations within and outside the company

  • Prepare comprehensive written and oral reports

  • Conduct effective meetings

  • Understand and negotiate contracts and resolve conflicts

  • Read and understand engineered drawings and diagrams

  • Identify problems and develop a range of solutions

  • Operate independently

  • Communicate resource requirements and gaining alignment with dispersed resource teams and leadership

  • Manage finances and budget

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in any combination of the following categories: energy industry operations and maintenance leadership, power industry engineering and operations support, full-scale energy industry project management, electrical equipment asset management and compliance, power industry construction including outage scheduling and coordination, safety procedure development and training, or related experience

Preferred:

  • Experience in construction and/or operation of battery energy storage systems (BESS)

  • Long-term Service Agreement (LTSA) management and administration

  • Experience developing and implementing new programs with comprehensive processes, procedures, training, and organizational development/change management practices

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position occasionally stands/walks on uneven surfaces of construction sites up to 8 hours (with periodic breaks) in different weather environments, while wearing PPE. Climbing of stairs and ladders is occasionally required in power generation facilities. Lifting/carrying of up to a 17.5 lb. lap top bag. Crouching, kneeling, and stooping/bending is required occasionally. Driving of up to 4 hours throughout the IPC service area is required occasionally. Approximately 80% of the work is performed in an office environment requiring the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional travel with out-of-town stays.
