We are looking for a professional, experienced Basic Latent Print Technician to join our team!


Individual will be responsible for processing a wide range of complex forensic material associated with IEDs and IED-related material using basic and advanced physical and chemical processes and forensic light sources. Other duties include:

  • Receive and account for boxes of evidence and related material from the Evidence Management Unit (EMU)

  • Adhere to proper evidence handling techniques and take proper measures to protect the integrity of the evidence for additional forensic examinations

  • Visually inspect and process evidence and related materials for latent prints to include visual and forensic light source examination and conducting basic and advanced physical and chemical processing on evidence

  • Determine suitability for capture of detected latent prints and properly submit evidence for photography, to include the use of photo ticketing software

  • Author, review, and provide quality control (QC) of case notes, photographs, chain-ofcustody, electronic communications, and communication logs

  • Prepare all required documentation for the case file relative to position

  • Use current database(s) and software program(s) for evidence inventory, tracking, and flow; and documentation for the case file relative to the position

  • Complete and pass LDs latent print discipline training requirements and appropriate latent print competency test within the time period as set forth by the BAU

  • Complete and pass a yearly proficiency test in the area of latent print processing from an external independent vendor, if available, or one created internally if no such external test is available.

  • Prepare and maintain all chemicals necessary for processing of evidence, including following Government standard operating procedures for making and testing of all chemical reagents

  • Maintain equipment to ensure proper and efficient job performance


  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with at least twenty-four (24) credit hours in the Physical Sciences. Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a LPT or Physical Scientist in an accredited laboratory

  • Basic computer skills, to include use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook)

  • Strong organization skills and flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to study and pass training, examination, and testing assessments.

Redstone is located in Rocket City Huntsville, Alabama. Huntsville is the hub of missile and space research and development. You will collaborate with other missile defense experts military, government civilians, and contractors from Millennium and other contractors. That team of experts helps the Government manage the development and delivery of state-of-the art sensor, weapons, communications, and computational systems. MDA launches more large missile / rocket systems than any entity in the world, and you will help test those systems. You will be part of the team that conducts a successful intercept of a target missile by one of our Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) weapons. What are your specific duties? The Analyst provides supervised analytical assistance for the Missile Defense Agencys Warfighter Operations Support Directorate. The Analyst will be primarily responsible for consolidation and quality control of weekly deliverables, conduct updates of the organizations Sharepoint pages on both classified and unclassified systems, and perform some administrative tasks as required. Additionally, the analyst will work various assigned projects as assigned by the customer and contract site lead. What knowledge and skills will help you be a successful Analyst? * Capture, organize, interpret, evaluate, and prepare for presentation in various format, data and information relevant to the Warfighter Operational Support Directorate * Use Sharepoint software applications to provide timely, accurate updates to applicable databases and webpages * Attend and keep detailed records of meetings; e.g., DTW Staff Call, the Operations Support Coordination and Integration Meeting, the Missile Defense Fielding and Integration Team meetings, individual Geographic Combatant Command Coordination meetings, Acquisition Program meetings, and others, as assigned. * As required, assist the Warfighter Operational Support Chief of Operations with special projects in accordance with Technical Engineering Advisory Management and Support Test, Exercises & Wargames contract requirements. * Compile, edit, and quality control briefing slides in support of the weekly Warfighter Operational Support staff call and applicable charts to support the Test Directorates weekly staff call. * Support the Managers Internal Controls Program, the Records Liaison Officer function, and other duties as assigned.
