This position is based on a beautiful academic campus in Princeton. The Institute for Advanced Study is one of the world's leading centers for curiosity-driven basic research. Scholars come from all parts of the world to focus on their research and scholarly work.
The bar is located in the newest building on campus, Rubenstein Commons and is not open to the public. The enables our community to gather and enjoy the company of their colleagues in a cozy bar/common area.
The bartender is responsible for operating and maintaining the bar area; taking and fulfilling food and drink orders and providing a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Hours: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4:30-9:30 p.m.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Receive food and beverage orders from patrons or wait staff.
Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons of bar following standard recipes. Mixes ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks. Serve wine and bottled beer.
Provide bar snacks to all patrons.
Deliver food to patrons, clear tables, place dishes and silverware in the sanitizing sink.
Handle point of sale system.
Order or requisition liquors, other beverages and supplies.
Ensure full stock of bar items in supply area.
Prepare garnishments for cocktails.
Wash and sterilize glassware and sinks.
Clean bar area.
Secure all alcohol at closing.
All other duties as assigned by the Catering Supervisor/Dining Room Manager (10%)

Qualifications
High School education or equivalent vocational training
TIPS Certification or ServSafe Alcohol Certification
Two years of bartending experience
Familiarity with proper sanitation regulations
Ability to perform duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow through and cooperativeness
Ability to follow directions
Ability to adapt to meet priority changes of workflow or requirements
