Overview
Kantishna Roadhouse (KRH) is a full-service, backcountry lodge located 90 miles into the pristine natural wonder of Denali National Park in a remote area where few are lucky enough to travel. Employees at the Roadhouse will find adventure, tranquility and an escape from every-day modern life. The season at Kantishna Roadhouse is approximately from June 4 - September 14 and KRH is seeking candidates available to stay the entire season. Room and board are provided free of charge for this position.
JOB SUMMARY: The Bartender mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests following standard recipes. Mixes ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks; serves wine and draught beer; and collects money for drinks served.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Understand and follow all regulations pertaining to the sale and service of alcohol in the State of Alaska
Greet customers as they arrive and depart
Present beverage menu, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding bar service
Mix and pour beverages; serve them to guests both in the bar and in the dining room
Order liquors and supplies while maintaining accurate and adequate inventories
Record accurate beverage orders
Clean and wipe tables and chairs; vacuum, sweep and mop dining room and bar floors
Organize and maintain the bar
May work split shifts
Provide dining room service assistance
Other duties as assigned

Must be 21 years of age
Must have a current certification to serve alcohol
Two (2) years bartending experience
Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening tests
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Kantishna Roadhouse is remotely located within Denali National Park. There is no road access to Kantishna Roadhouse. The only access is by small aircraft. The work is performed in an upscale bar and dining room setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities. During busy dining periods, the bartender is under pressure to serve customers quickly and efficiently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: An individual is on their feet most of the time and often carries heavy trays of glassware, cases of wine and moves heavy kegs of beer from storage to beer cooler (50+ lbs.).
