SUMMARY
To maintain cleanliness of barn and property of Sallee Horse Vans while caring for the horses that are in our custody.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for loading and unloading horses while at our barn. Care for the horses that are in our custody.
Check halter tags on horses to ensure the proper delivery of horses.
Check health papers when loading and unloading horses for destination requirements.
Communicate any health concerns about horses that in are in the barn to your supervisor.
Communicate with the dispatch office about horses coming in and out of our barn.
Make sure barn is kept clean. This includes mucking and disinfecting the stalls, scrubbing the walls and scrubbing the water buckets after the horse leaves.
Assist the drivers with safety advice when they are loading/unloading horses.
Drive company muck truck to dump muck.
Take local trips in the box truck and goose neck, as needed.
Keep Sallee property and owner's property clean. Make sure strings from straw bales and trash are kept off grounds. Rake yard around barn to maintain cleanliness. In the summer months, mow, weed eat, use blower to keep lots clean, etc... In the winter months, snow and ice removal as necessary.
Any additional duties assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
Must have prior Thoroughbred handling experience to include loading and unloading in trailers.
Must have previous landscaping experience using zero turn mowers, weed eater and edger, pruning landscape and mulching.
Must possess a valid driver's license with no tickets or violations in last 3 years
Be able to obtain a DOT physical in order to drive company equipment
Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
