Compensation

Salary Range: $51.93 - $81.99 per hour

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range. Pay for PRN positions is calculated differently than Full-Time, Regular Part-Time, and Part-Time positions. PRN Rates depend on the position and other factors, including years of experience, or shift commitment according to the department policy. PRN differential is added in certain positions.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

The primary role of the Bariatric Sepsis Coordinator RN is coordination of care for bariatric surgery & sepsis patients, as well as management of the ongoing Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence (BSCOE) compliance. This includes bariatric program development, patient and staff education, as well as the oversight of multidisciplinary teams and acting as the liaison between the hospital and surgical practice. The coordinator will also engage with clinicians in the process of capturing data related to the documentation of sepsis measures and the necessity of following hospital sepsis protocols. The Coordinator will serve as an educator, quality performance leader, a sepsis champion, highlight sepsis awareness to the nursing staff, and facilitate collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)

• Current CA Registered Nurse License

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification

• Five (5) years of acute care nursing experience

• Certified Bariatric Nurse, or to be completed within one (1) year

Preferred:

• Masters in Nursing (MSN)

• Two (2) years of experience in Quality and Performance Improvement

• Two (2) years of experience working with Bariatric Surgery & Sepsis patient population

• Two (2) years of experience working with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MSAQIP)
