Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Barbering Instructor position in the Business and Public Service Technologies (BPST) Division. This position is full-time and located on Atlanta Tech's Main Campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Job Description:

  • Provide instruction in the theory and practical applications of barbering
  • Teach courses in areas such as hair care, hair color, cutting, and styling
  • Evaluate student progress in achieving course goals and objectives
  • Attend staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences as required
  • Ensure all safety and security requirements are met during training sessions
  • Foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings.
  • Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives, ensuring student learning outcomes are attained and properly recorded.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and administrative reports.
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the classroom and laboratory.
  • Proactively retain students who enroll in the program through graduation.
  • Assist with the placement of program graduates.
  • Maintain good rapport with business, industry, and the public sector.
  • Under general supervision, prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses.
  • Prepares standardized course syllabi.
  • Assess students' satisfactory progress based on established course grading requirements.
  • May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom or online course delivery.
  • Measure program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success.
  • Effectively interact with a diverse student population.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of Master Barber program from an accredited private or postsecondary teaching institute.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a licensed Master Barber
  • At least 1 year of experience as a licensed barber instructor
  • Must possess a valid Instructor' License
  • Active Master Barbering license in good standing.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and Saturdays.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to Minimum Qualifications, a Barber Instructor License with experience is preferred.

Physical Demands

Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) - four (4) continuous hours at a time; and may occasionally lift up to 25lbs. Exposure to chemicals and fumes is possible in the laboratory setting. A full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.

Salary/Benefits

Salary is based on contract and number of courses/credit hours

All adjunct positions are part-time, temporary positions. Hours are offered based on student enrollment each semester.

Adjunct positions do not include benefits or a promise of future full-time employment.
