This vacancy is located in the

Rehabilitation Departmentat Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson, LA (East Feliciana Parish).ELMHS is the largest 24-hour, multi-site, statepsychiatric complex, comprised of residential, outpatient and inpatient services.

This position may be filled as either a Probational or Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a Promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency wide permanent status employees), by Detail to Special Duty; or as a part-time WAE. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointed if selected for a full-time position.

No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

However, you must possess a license issued by the Louisiana Board of Barber Examiners.

Substitution: Is a cosmetology license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a license issued by the Louisiana Board of Barber Examiners.

SUBSTITUTION:

A cosmetology license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology will substitute for the Louisiana barber license.

To perform a variety of skilled grooming functions in a barber shop.

Differs from Barber Supervisor by lack of responsibility for the overall direction of a barber shop.

Examples of Work

Participates in the operation of the barber shop.

Cuts and shampoos hair and gives scalp treatments.

May shave patients.

Keeps barber shop in sanitary condition.

Sterilizes equipment after use and maintains tools in good working condition.

May instruct male patients in elementary grooming care.
