Job Summary:

Summary

Reporting directly to the Collections Supervisor this position is responsible for handling all bankruptcy filings from inception to discharge or dismissal. The candidate will also be responsible for updating the department on new and changed bankruptcy codes and laws nationwide.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review initial bankruptcy filings and setting-up new bankruptcy files.

  • File accurate and complete Proof of Claim forms with bankruptcy courts.

  • Review all bankruptcy correspondence received.

  • Respond to and/or following-up on mail, correspondence and ordered documents.

  • Monitor and follow-up on BK account status.

  • Negotiate value and interest to adequately protect UACC´s interest in collateral.

  • Review repayment plans and other court documents for accuracy.

  • Post payments and monitoring repayment plans.

  • Refer cases to outside counsel for relief from stay, plan objections, or other appropriate action.

  • Monitor outside bankruptcy counsel activities and related costs.

  • Assist in reporting and tracking of all Bankruptcy processes.

  • Monitor Chapter 7 discharged bankruptcies for monthly payments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Familiar with bankruptcy legal requirements nationwide.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with internal and external customers.

  • The candidate must possess the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

  • Negotiate payment solutions and follow up on pending actions or expired payment arrangements utilizing excellent customer service skills.

Education/Experience

  • 3-5 years bankruptcy auto finance experience (preferably nationwide) and the ability to assume lead duties as assigned within a fast paced office.

  • Successful candidate has thorough understanding of bankruptcy statutes, procedures and familiar the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Bankruptcy Code and Rules.

  • Experienced in PACER, filing POC and Microsoft Office applications with the ability to create, compose and edit reports and other written material are required along with the ability to manage multiple changing agendas in a fast paced environment while still maintaining a high level of attention to detail and a positive attitude.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Ability

Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in person, in writing and by telephone.

Computer Skills

Proficient in use of MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Access, SharePoint

Bi-lingual is a plus
