About the role

SWIFT is expanding its North American Business Development team. An integral part of this effort is to hire a relationship manager in the North American Banking team. In this role, the individual will grow existing relationships to increase awareness of SWIFT's service offering and to maximize revenue opportunities. This position reports to the head of Banking Business Development, North America and is based in New York. The individual will be focused on building client relationships, executing a vision around strategic initiatives, and driving sales success throughout the portfolio.

Overall responsibilities include:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities by establishing, maintaining, and enhancing long-term relationships

  • Deliver on overall revenue budget for assigned portfolio

  • Identify customer needs/market opportunities and grow revenue share across the portfolio

  • Liaise and coordinate with other SWIFT divisions/departments such as product management, technical services, events, marketing, etc.

  • Acquire and maintain market, product, and services knowledge

  • Some domestic travel may be required with some international traveling opportunities.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

  • 3+ years of experience working in a corporate or commercial bank, consulting firm, or a payments vendor working in the cash management or trade finance space

  • Demonstrable history of building long-term relationships with customer satisfaction and client retention

  • Ability to work well in a changing environment while maintaining discipline to achieve goals

  • Polished presentation, interpersonal and networking skills

  • Keen to learn and willing to get involved in a wide variety of projects

  • Passionate self-starter with the drive to achieve and surpass objectives

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Relationships in the North American banking and payments industry

  • Understanding SWIFT's role within the banking industry

  • Experience in sales, product management, or operations

  • Insights and opinions into the use of financial technologies such as APIs, Blockchain/DLT, AI, machine learning, etc.

  • Knowledge of correspondent banking, payments, trade finance, financial crime compliance

The Relationship Manager III is a key role in the BB-GNP organization. BB-GNP is looking for an experienced banker who can manage existing client relationships and develop new business strategies focused on client selection all while ensuring an outstanding client experience, adherence to the regulatory, legal and risk management frameworks unique to these client segments. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (in order of importance) * Build collaborative internal and external relationships to provide the best in client advice and service, develop the business to ensure a seamless experience for the client who has multiple products and services. * Serve as a trusted advisor to the client in delivering comprehensive and customized business banking products and solutions tailored to the financial needs and circumstances of GNP clients. * Manage a portfolio of clients; grow portfolio by prospecting for new clients and deepening relationships with existing clients. * Manage credit opportunities within assigned portfolio up to $25 million. * Utilize extensive referral networks and centres of influence to identify and pursue potential new clients, looking for ways to cultivate a long-term relationship. * Use expert knowledge of business, finance, banking, credit and risk management to identify, recommend and promote products and solutions that best serve the client while still working within risk parameters that protect the bank. * Build relationships by calling on existing clients to truly understand their organizations/institutions and analyse product and service growth opportunities and ensure profitability of GNP portfolio. * Protect the firm by following sound risk management protocols and adhering to regulatory requirements. * Manage a disciplined marketing process by identifying steps/strategies necessary to effectively maintain and build relationships with clients and prospects. Knowledge, Skills and Experience * 5 to 7 years experience in business banking relationship management role or related business lending experience. * Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field, or equivalent work experience required. * Strong knowledge of business credit, deposit and cash management products and services. * Strong knowledge of business credit underwriting with commercial credit training preferred. * Knowledge of the unique requirements, laws, regulations, and risk management for GNP client base; familiarity with the formal RFP process and due diligence. * Strong communication skills with individuals at all levels, internally and externally. * Ability to build relationships with clients and internal partners and influence others without direct control. * Able to identify opportunities, issues and viable alternatives when traditional solutions do not apply. * Uses sound judgment to offer comprehensive and customized solutions that best meet client needs; ability to anticipate client needs. * Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities on a daily basis in pursuit of business objectives. * Strong current business network and active involvement in community organizations such as Chambers of Commerce, non-profit boards.
