As an Associate Banker on the Innovation Economy, Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries team, you will be responsible for supporting Senior Bankers with growing and retaining profitable relationships. You will be responsible for helping bankers cover new prospects, deepen existing client relationships, complete portfolio reviews, build market share and drive internal and external client dialogue. We cover clients in the following industries: Technology and Disruptive Consumer & Internet.
The Innovation Economy team is part of J.P. Morgan's Commercial Bank in its Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries group. In this role you will be the focal point of client acquisition and ongoing relationships with the world's most innovative companies. We work both independently and as part of a dynamic team to deliver the entire firm to our clients.
Our Associate Bankers are required to have deep working knowledge of our solutions including, but not limited to: Credit, Treasury Services, International Banking, Investment Banking, Syndicated Finance, Commercial Card and Chase Paymentech Solutions. Our strongest Associate Bankers exhibit a strong interest in technology / venture capital market, a commitment to teamwork and partnership, and exceptional work ethic and attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead or support Senior Bankers in business development efforts in SoCal innovation economy ecosystem
Work alongside Senior Bankers and Product Partners to execute transactions from initial pitch through to close for both existing and prospective clients
Prepare marketing materials for use in client meetings covering topics such as financing, working capital optimization, industry and peer analysis
Work with Senior Bankers to help generate new revenue opportunities from prospects and existing clients
Collaborate with credit underwriting teams on analysis and documentation of credit requests
Assist with reporting requirements and data management
Develop an understanding of the full breadth of J.P. Morgan products and service offerings, including but not limited to M&A, debt capital markets, equity capital markets, foreign Exchange, interest rate management, and treasury services etc.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
3+ years with above average performance results in a similar banking role, credit/lending, or venture capital / private equity related experience.
Outstanding professional reputation and integrity
Strong leadership skills required
Demonstrated ability to develop and retain new and profitable relationships in a highly competitive environment
Ability to assess risks inherent in complex credit transactions and mitigate, structure and negotiate accordingly
Excellent problem solving, oral, and written communication skills
Extensive knowledge of products and services
FINRA licensed (SIE, Series 79, Series 63) or ability to successfully complete within 90 days of hiring
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:
Bachelor's degree and formal credit or investment banking training preferred
Knowledge and existing networks in the local innovation economy and venture capital sectors is preferred
Superior knowledge of the venture market dynamics and competitive landscape preferred
