Business First Bank is looking for an experienced TELLER in the Baton Rouge Market.

The successful candidate must:

Understand and maintain compliance with Bank policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations, including BSA, AML, and OFAC.

Cross sell other bank products to new/existing customers in person or on the telephone.

Actively participate in serving, growing and retaining the banking center customer portfolio.

Receive loan payments, inspect negotiable instruments and cash offered for payment and enter payments received into financial institution computer records.

Perform a variety of customer service transactions, such as account holds, stop-payment orders, direct deposits and check confirmation.

Ensure all teller stations are adequately stocked and ready for subsequent shifts at changeover or closing.

Ensure that all End of Day requirements are completed.

Provide daily and monthly reports on teller operations to supervisor.

Must have high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years of job-related experience.

This employee must understand bank operations in order to develop and achieve Branch goals in accordance with the parameters defined by management. The Banking Center Manager I is supportive of management and MidSouth Bank policies. Employees in this position are required to provide functional support for a variety of sales and service functions. He/she is responsible for day-to-day banking center operations. Responsibilities: Primary/Essential Duties: * Understand bank mission, organizational structure, employee handbook, bank security, policies and procedures, standards of conduct and incentive program * Maintain working understanding of all products/services offered by MidSouth Bank * Be aware of general banking services and understand advantages of MidSouth Bank's products/services * Increase the deposit and loan base of the banking center based on goals established around market opportunity * Develop and implement a written sales/profit plan for the banking center (with assistance from your team members); Outline individual goals and objectives based on market opportunity * Provide leadership through coaching, providing positive reinforcement, seek training and support necessary for employees to succeed * Actively participate in the banking center sales incentive program * Ensure development of written performance goals for each individual and the banking center as a whole * Conduct weekly sales meetings and clinics with employees to review sales & service skills, product knowledge and individual banking center performance goals and achievements * Market and sell all MidSouth Bank deposit and loan products. * Make referrals to other appropriate sales areas, including alternative investments and commercial banking * Retain current customers and increase the level of products used by these customers * Solicit new business through cold calling in person, telephone sales, and appreciation calls * Ensure customer needs are met and that employees perform in an effective manner * Appropriately staff the banking center (in teller and new account platform) according to traffic patterns while paying particular attention to high volume days * Assist in employee development and retention through support of ongoing training of technical skills, sales skills, customer service, consumer products, operations, and compliance issues * Ensure compliance with regulations, Bank policies, safety and security procedures; responsible for integrity of banking center operation * Networking and business development required * Maintain profitability of Banking Center Other Duties: * Ability to handle all job functions of Customer Service Associate II and Universal Banker in case of employee absence * Work with management to develop banking center business plan and banking center goals/objectives. * Take consumer loan applications; close loans as directed by the loan department * Participate in outside service organizations promoting the community and advance the MidSouth Bank image * Conduct employee performance reviews * Other duties as designated by management Qualifications: * Minimum: High school graduate or participate in a qualified high school work program * Minimum of 1 year management experience in a banking center environment * Post high school education and/or two year work experience with the public preferred * Basic math aptitude and proficiency with ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide * Verbal/cognitive skills at a level sufficient to understand memorandums, instructions, and Customer Service Associate related forms * Achievement in social and/or extracurricular activities preferred * Must have a professional appearance and manner * Able to work independently or in a team environment * Effective supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to act fairly and decisively * Able to work under time constraints, use good judgment, and act in a tactful, professional, non-irritated manner while dealing with the public and fellow employees * Must possess or be eligible for licensing with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) Physical: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
