The Virginia Department of the Treasury is currently recruiting for a Bank Reconciliation Specialist to reconcile select concentration, regional, and trust bank accounts. The duties will include, but are not limited to identifying, researching, and resolving bank adjustments and agency cash transactions. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the cash receipt guidelines set forth in the Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP) manual. The incumbent will be required to prepare reconciling and write off cash accounting entries. The incumbent will also be responsible for initiating contact with state agencies and banks to resolve reconciling items. The position will act as the primary backup for placing payroll and general warrant stop payments and assisting claimants with forged endorsement claims.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Demonstrated experience compiling and analyzing data, while utilizing strong analytical skills
Demonstrated experience researching reconciliation issues independently and developing supportable conclusions and/or recommendations.
Considerable experience working in a high-volume automated accounting environment
Previous experience with bank reconciliations
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and customer service skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Excel and Word
Ability to evaluate current work processes and make recommendations for enhancements
Ability to work well with other professionals at various levels
Additional Considerations
Experience in an accounting field or equivalent applicable education, experience, and/or training
Experience with automated Bank Reconciliation and Accounting Software is highly desirable
