Job Background

Treasury's Stress Continuum Planning, Corporate Governance & Rating Agency Relations team's responsibilities cover the following key areas:

  • Coordinate all governance matters impacting balance sheet, liquidity, capital, asset and liability management, to Citi's Board of Directors.

  • Proactively manage relationships with the Rating Agencies through the development of meeting agendas with Citi seniors and SMEs to discuss topics that will add to the agencies' understanding of the firm's financial strength.

  • Oversee the Liquidity & Funding workstream during annual regulatory capital stress test, responsible for delivering Citigroup and Citibank forecasted balance sheet results under base and stress scenarios, ensuring adequate liquidity levels are maintained.

  • Manage all aspects of Citi's global comprehensive front-to-back Stress Continuum planning and governance framework, including Citi's stress triggers framework from BAU to Recapitalization of the firm under a Resolution scenario.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate ongoing discussions and reviews with the Rating Agencies regarding major topics of interest to ensure Citi's ratings and outlooks adequately reflect franchise strength. Additionally, assist entities in obtaining new or additional ratings.

  • Develop quantitative analyses to gain greater insight into the tools used by each Agency in their ratings assesment criteria.

  • Prepare Rating Agency update slides for deliverables including Capital Committee, ALCO, RMC, Fixed Income Investor Presentation, etc.

  • Coordinate Corporate Governance processes and prepare materials for the Board of Directors, including the materials for the Risk Management Committee (RMC) of the Board, to help ensure the timely execution of all Treasury-related Board approvals and notifications.

  • Perform peer analytics, including comprehensive quarterly review of peer banks' balance sheet composition, liquidity metrics and capital ratios for senior management.

  • Provide support and coordination of treasury-wide deliverables, including CCAR and Resolution Planning pertaining to funding, liquidity, and credit ratings.

  • Proactively read, understand, and keep abreast of all regulatory developments and rating agency methodology changes that directly affect Citi and its subsidiaries.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience working for a financial services organization

  • Undergraduate or master's degree in Finance, accounting, economics or other quantitative discipline; CPA certification a plus, but not required

  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is expected

  • Required skills include superior problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, teamwork, quantitative aptitude, and excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Familiarity with publicly disclosed financials, such as 10-Qs/10-Ks, Call Reports, FR Y-9Cs and firm's financial presentations are preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and multitask under tight deadlines, including coordinating with multiple groups both within Treasury and other departments across Citi.

  • Highly entrepreneurial role with significant room for project ownership and new idea generation

The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company. The Risk Rating Methodology team (RRM) in Commercial Credit manages the development and refinement of risk rating methodologies and grids for commercial credit exposures across Wells Fargo. RRM provides oversight of commercial business risk rating methodologies which includes analyzing risk rating data, approving business risk rating policies and processes, as well as, risk rating tool and application training, usage monitoring, answering questions, tracking and resolving risk rating related issues. RRM is seeking a Credit Oversight Officer (COO), Risk Rating Business Partner, with extensive credit knowledge and experience to support and partner with specific commercial businesses in the assessment, design, implementation, verification, monitoring and ongoing maintenance of commercial risk rating grids and guidance utilized across the bank. This individual is responsible for leading, developing and implementing strategic initiatives and processes, including, consulting with specific businesses on risk rating related strategy, policies, procedures, and training. The position requires an individual who can independently apply strong subject matter knowledge as they partner with businesses on risk rating methodology governance, processes, tools, and applications. The partner will need to provide challenge to enterprise and/or businesses regarding potential or emerging risks related to risk rating policies and processes, guidance and methodologies, in addition to providing thought leadership related to the enterprise risk rating policy and the overall risk rating system at Wells Fargo. This position will lead significant risk rating initiatives and processes by partnering with multiple businesses and other downstream stakeholders. Preferred location is Charlotte, NC but open to other Wells Fargo Hub locations. Key responsibilities include: * Leading the risk rating tools (grids and guidance) development and refinement process and other risk rating methodologies, providing challenge and documenting the rationale for recommendations including application of the tools to Wells Fargo model policies and standards. * Constructing business requirements for technology implementation of new or refined risk rating grids/guidance; testing technology changes; coordinating communication and rollout with impacted business users; and developing training materials. * Evaluating risk rating grid/guidance usage and performance through data analysis, identifying issues that need to be addressed from data trends and taking ownership to address them. * Providing thought leadership related to the corporate risk rating policy and overall risk rating system. * Being a subject matter expert in specific commercial businesses risk rating policies, methodologies, tools and procedures and be confident in providing challenge where appropriate. Ensuring consistency for assigned businesses relative to company risk rating policies and practices. * Identifying, documenting and tracking issues related to risk rating tool and application issues/changes/enhancements and/or policy and methodology related items and managing to resolution * Manipulating and analyzing data, preparing summary presentations of findings, and drawing conclusions to present recommendations to senior management * Leading cross-organizational project work which may include facilitation with several different business units across the bank to plan and execute on project deliverables * Build and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders * Facilitating, where appropriate, resolution of risk rating related recommendations and/or issues from credit review function, Internal Audit, and external regulatory agencies * Leading and managing at least one specific governance process or program as assigned, within the team * Analyzing, recommending, and documenting business risk rating policy changes. * Developing and presenting risk rating related topics to senior management and regulators.
