The Baker is responsible for mixing and baking ingredients. Follows recipes to create pastries, breads, sweets, and other baked goods. Ensures baked goods conform to standards for grocery store.
Baker essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for creating an enjoyable dining experience for residents and their guests.
Regarding meal service and other related items in the daily operation. Is familiar with menu, including key ingredients and preparation methods.
Ability to make good decisions in handling situations that may occur in the daily operations. Following accepted standard meal service routines.
Check production schedule to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake.
Implement products by following recipes or may develop new ones.
Roll, cut, and shape dough to form rolls, pie crusts, tarts, cookies, and related products.
Cut, peel, and prepare fruit for pie fillings.
Observe products while cooking and adjust controls.
Apply glazes, icings, or other toppings to baked goods, using spatulas or brushes.
Use a variety of kitchen tools, including electric mixers, pans, rolling pins, and cutting tools.
Monitor baking process to identify needed adjustments.
Handle and move ingredients, tools, and cooking pans.
Set oven temperatures and place items into hot ovens for baking.
Combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing, blending, or cooking machinery.
Measure or weigh flour or other ingredients to prepare batters, dough's, fillings, or icings, using scales or graduated containers.
Place dough in pans, molds, or on sheets and bake in production ovens or on grills.
Check the quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met. Ensures proper food handling and storage.
Adapt the quantity of ingredients to match the amount of items to be baked.
Check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations and perform maintenance or cleaning, as necessary. Complies with and enforces all sanitation policies/procedures.
Decorate baked goods, such as cakes, pies, and cupcakes.
Set time and speed controls for mixing machines, blending machines, or steam kettles so that ingredients will be mixed or cooked according to instructions.
Prepare or maintain inventory or production records. Maintains temp logs for all equipment and prepared food.
Direct or coordinate bakery deliveries.
Order or receive supplies or equipment.
Operate slicing or wrapping machines.
Related Experience: Proven culinary skills; 2-3 years' experience or formal training
Education or Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations: ServSafe
