The backup operator is responsible for filling in when the regular machine operator is absent and/or as requested by management. These duties include setup of equipment, startup and shutdowns, troubleshooting equipment, completing quality checks, and performing sanitation on assigned equipment and work areas. Additional responsibilities include:
Setting up the line safely and ensuring that the proper processing equipment is in place
Communicate with support personnel and maintenance any equipment malfunctions or design deficiencies
Performing pre-operation checks of equipment for safe and proper set-up, ensuring all guards are functional and in place
Maintain supply of raw materials to the line throughout the shift
Maintain and complete all daily line reports
Accurately record material usage in production
When not filling in for the operator position, the backup operator will be performing the functions of the General Assembler which include inspecting products to quality standards, packaging finished goods in designated cartons or cases, communicate discrepancies in product standards, assist in cleaning work area and following proper safety and GMP guidelines.
