As a VR Backend Engineer working within the Social VR Team at Facebook, you'll be a key driver for creating the connective tissue between emergent Social VR experiences and the immense power of the Facebook network, enabling social virtual reality experiences that will define the future of online social interaction. The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with expert knowledge of Facebook core technologies.
Drive and implement technical solutions to a variety of Social VR features as it relates to the Facebook infrastructure, such as data persistence, efficiently storing and fetching user content, and supporting new VR-centric content types
Identify opportunities to share technology across teams
Partner with product visionaries to deliver innovative VR experiences
Evangelize technical solutions, frameworks, and best practices across the team and org as it relates to interacting with Facebook infrastructure and services
5+ years of experience as an engineer building product features with core FB technologies, including PHP/Hack, GraphQL, and EntSchemas
Experience partnering with internal and external teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
Virtual reality experience (Rift, Vive, Gear VR, etc.)
C# or other typed/structured programming language experience
Understanding of runtime performance and memory use tradeoffs, even in garbage collected environments
Unity 3D experience
Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments
