Job Introduction

At Sprouts Farmers Market, the Backup Receiver supports receiving of all products and merchandise sold in the store. They help maximize sales by inspecting deliveries for shortages, overages, damages, quality, product integrity, and temperature control. They also verify products against packing slips reconciles invoices with bills of lading. The Backup Receiver also reports discrepancies and damages to the leadership and buying team.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude, organizational skills, time management skills, and strong attention to detail.

  • Dispose of corrugate in the trash compactor.

  • Create bales when the compactor is sufficiently full and transport bales to the designated location outside the store.

  • Stack/organize pallets, sweep, and mop the floor to maintain safe and unobstructed walkways.

  • Verify accurate invoicing from our distribution centers and vendors. Report discrepancies to the appropriate supplier as needed.

  • Route merchandise to indicated departments or storage areas.

  • Execute company programs to ensure the profitability of receiving operations and customer satisfaction in compliance with company safety, labeling, health, and weights and measures standards.

  • Take direction, communicate, and collaborate effectively with others.

  • Keep the department and work areas clean, sanitized, and organized, including tables, floors, walls, and storage areas.

  • Adhere to all safety, health, and compliance regulations.

  • Demonstrate product knowledge when assisting customers and team members.

  • Stay informed of weekly sales and ad items so they can direct customers to any product throughout the store.

  • Provide and receive constructive feedback and direction for effective communication and collaboration with others.

  • Flexible to perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must have a High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-2 years of receiving experience preferred; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

  • Regular, dependable attendance is an essential function of this position. Shift schedules include 8-10 hours with scheduled breaks.

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights, weekends, and holidays preferred.

  • Able to lift 65 pounds between 5 inches and 31 inches above the ground, lifting heavier items is required occasionally.

  • Pushing and pulling racks of merchandise is common throughout a typical day. Push and pull force required up to 90 pounds

  • Stand on hard surfaces continuously, walk up to 3 miles, reach vertically to access upper levels, and transfer items horizontally.

  • Wear PPE consistent with the task assignment, including but not limited to non-slip, closed-toe shoes, long pants, and gloves (latex and or cut-resistant).
