Atlassian is looking for Back End Software Engineer to join the Confluence Cloud Migrations team in Mountain View.

The Confluence Cloud Migrations team is working towards a mission-critical to Atlassian - migrating all Server customers to Cloud. The team is focused on solving complex engineering challenges around moving and managing large-scale data effectively for our customers.

You will have a direct impact on the customer experience through the design and implementation of new features and functionalities in Confluence. You'll collaborate with other software engineers to write high-quality code and deliver amazing results that our users love.

On your first day, we will expect you to have:

  • Proficiency in programming and debugging in object-oriented and functional languages like Java, C++, Python.

  • Strong understanding of fundamental data structures and algorithms.

  • Strong understanding of scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance in distributed systems.

  • Willingness to take ownership of the software you write all the way to production, and experience operating software in production. This includes building monitoring into your code, tweaking dashboards, defining alerts, writing runbooks, etc.

  • Experience working with large-scale data processing on a fast-moving team.

  • Experience with agile software development methodologies and software development practices (unit testing, pair programming, and continuous integration).

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate on ideas and designs with your team and beyond, in a remote working environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

It's great, but not required if you have:

  • Understanding of reactive programming in Java.

  • Experience working with microservices and serverless architectures.

  • Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience with public cloud offerings (e.g., AWS, GAE, Azure).

  • Experience working with Splunk, SignalFx or other logging and monitoring tools.

  • Experience working with customers to help unblock them.

Atlassian is looking for a backend software engineer to join Confluence Cloud's Discovery & Organization team. You'll be joining a team focused on building features that help our customers efficiently find and organize information in Confluence. Our team has a direct impact on customer satisfaction, and are proud owners of products like navigation, home, and labels. We are committed to building delightful experiences that are also reliable and performant. On your first day, we'll expect you to have * Proficiency in any modern object-oriented programming language (e.g. Java, Scala, Python, etc.) * Basic experience with database technology (e.g. RDS, DynamoDB) * Familiarity implementing RESTful APIs * General knowledge of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry, and public cloud offerings (AWS, GCP, Azure) * Passion for software engineering and getting stuff done * Strong collaboration and interpersonal and communication skills It would be great, but not required if you have * Knowledge of GraphQL and web-app development * Familiarity with JavaScript and React * Familiarity with Reactive programming frameworks (e.g. Spring Webflux) * Familiarity evaluating tradeoffs between correctness, performance, space, and time * Knowledge of principles to build reliable and performant systems More about our team We are a team of highly energetic and empathetic individuals.
