RTI's Community & Workplace Health (CWH) program collaborates with government, not-for-profit, and private-sector clients to create healthy communities and workplaces for all by providing the data, practice-based insights, and tools needed to deliver effective interventions. Our key areas of expertise and experience include culturally responsive and equitable evaluation; design of workplace health promotion initiatives; community-engaged research; workforce development training and technical assistance; health disparities, social determinants of health, and health equity research and evaluation; and chronic disease prevention and management.

The CWH program seeks a Bachelor's-level Public Health Analyst to fill an immediate need. As an analyst, this person will function as an integral part of one or more project teams providing analytic and project management support to mid-level and senior staff. The analyst will also become proficient with the various analytical tools used in public health research and program evaluation. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, eager to learn research and evaluation methods, detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position will start out remotely until our regional offices reopen (tentatively January 2022). Once our regional offices reopen, the position may remain remote or transition to our headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC or our regional office in Atlanta, GA, or Washington, DC.

Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:

  • Coordinate qualitative research activities including key informant and stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and technical expert panels

  • Contribute to literature reviews and environmental scans; synthesize findings

  • Compile and manage databases using Excel or other database software

  • Maintain files to document work performed, including calculations, spreadsheets, memoranda, references, reviewer comments, etc.

  • Assist with data analysis and writing technical reports

  • Review and proof own work for accuracy and completeness

  • Manage correspondence and project communications and assist with other project management responsibilities including scheduling project meetings, preparing meeting agendas, and recording meeting minutes

  • Contribute to business development through successful completion of project work, exhibiting quality, timeliness, cost efficiency, and client satisfaction, to ensure follow-on work

  • Contribute to proposals by compiling relevant project descriptions and staff bios and drafting timelines

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Coursework or work experience, including seasonal or volunteer work, in relevant research and evaluation topics (i.e., chronic disease prevention and control, community health, workplace health and safety, health equity, and/or social determinants of health)

  • Experience or coursework in qualitative or quantitative data collection and analysis

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide a writing sample if requested

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in multidisciplinary and diverse teams

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, team-based environment

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, sociology, psychology, political science, economics, or a related social science field

  • Experience with qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti, Dedoose)

  • Experience with analytic software (e.g., SAS, Stata, SPSS, R, Python)

  • Experience with populations disproportionately affected by health inequities (e.g., communities of color, LGBTQIA, low-income, uninsured, etc.)

  • Multicultural or bilingual communication skills

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.

The Senior Public Health Analyst will apply skills in research design and analytic methods to evaluate and support the development of options for addressing complex health care policy and health system problems for government clients. The Public Health Analyst will manage and mentor project team members across large and multidisciplinary teams; and develop strategic business opportunities with new and existing clients. This position can be located at our headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC or any of our U.S. regional offices. It is also available for full-time telecommuting.
